Just to get the topic back to where I started... so who do you think would be a good VP candidate for the GOP?
Whatever your on it must be some prime stuff but if condi becomes vice president, i would be willing to become a drug addict. I will definately need something to take me away from this reality. I personally think we shoyuld make a star wars part 7 with her as the wife of palpatine
Ron Paul, so if Mccain by chance gets elected we will have one of the 2 candidates that actually has a brain. Just please dont equate being republican with being a neocon , they arent the same thing and no, maccain isnt a republican in my eyes.
No, because it is stupid idea and makes no sense. In another thread i asked any supporter to give one good reason why it is good for USA to support Israel and no one could even come up with one half ass reason. What other conclusion is there? why should they sell out their country if not for money or power? Some one can actually think that, there is always "possibility" but then that person is either stupid or delusional and shouldn't hold any position of responsibility.
It doesn't matter to me I'm a republican and from Arizona McCain's home state and he won't be getting my vote
As a supporter of Barack Obama, I hope and pray that McCain is insane enough to choose Rice for his VP as I believe it would absolutely destroy his (already slim) shot at becoming president.
Zibbu: Why do you think that she is a bad VP candidate? Please answer from a strategic perspective not from an emotional place.
Here is your chance if you have anything to say, give us some reason why is it beneficial for USA to support Israel.
1. She ties McCain directly to the Bush administration (which as you know is extremely unpopular with approval rates below 30%) McCain's only chance is to distance himself from the Bush admin (to sell himself as the "maverick" and as the "independent" so he can be a "change" candidate even though he is the same party as the outgoing president) - and having someone who is that closely associated with Bush as his VP would make that impossible. He might as well have Cheney as his VP. 2. Many of McCain's voters this fall will be racists who are not that crazy about McCain but sure as heck don't want no black guy as president. It's as simple as that and yes there are many such racist idiots still in America. You are fooling yourself if you think otherwise. Guess what will keep those people at home on election day? A black WOMAN VP one heartbeat away from the presidency (and a very old man's heartbeat at that.) 3. This ties in with #1. Having Rice as VP would help heal the wounds of the Dems (over the Obama/Clinton battle) - I think that Democrats would realize that McCain represents 4 more years of neocon rule and would rally behind Obama as the nominee even though their guy (lady in this case) lost. 4. The idea that any Dems/Independents would be swayed by her race/gender to vote for the McCain ticket is ridiculous. Rice is seen nowhere near as positively by black people as is Obama and Rice is not going to draw any feminist vote. They know she is not one of them. In fact I think they would be even more likely to vote against McCain for having this type of trick even attempted on them (and that's exactly what it would be, an attempted trick.) Do Republicans really think that the women who are supporting Clinton now would be like "oh we can still vote for a woman, forget the Democrats!" HA! No. It doesn't work like that.
Good post Zibblu. To me it is blatantly obvious that McCain is courting Condi for VP as she is a black woman [kind of like a "hole in one" black + female], in some misguided thought that she will help with votes. Like Zibblu said, IMO it would work againest him, and yes anyone who thinks McCain won't get votes from the racist/sexist element is either daft or naive. Just from my perspective as a black woman, Condi is not going to win my vote. In fact, it would turn me off - almost like she is being paraded out.
just as a curiosity, if Rice becomes a vice president, will she be the ugliest vice president in USA history or has there been some one before who was uglier than her?
Bbau1: That is a good, thoughtful post. My question to you: as a black woman would you vote for McCain at all? Does his running mate even matter?
