Does anyone know whats the normal running temp of a dual core Pentium processor, mines been hitting 70c-80c and the motherboard has a temperate warning, i have disabled the warning but should i be concerned about the running temperature?
Yes, it has internal fans, front, side and rear. I have just taken the heat-sink and fan off and given it a thorough clean to remove all the dust etc and i am hoping this will help. The PC has been on for a bout an hour and its sitting at around CPU temp 60c and system temp of 40c so hopefully the clean will of helped. If its still overheating its a good excuse to upgrade to a quad core system
At 70-80C machine will hang to prevent CPU damage, its too high. Seems to have some hardware issue, better get it fixed soon.
60C-70C OMG ,that's too hot.I think you should check you hardware stuffs. My dual core's CPU temperature remains around 30-40c.
most motherboard these days measure the cpu and system temp, you can see it in your system bios and my motherboard driver cd has a util where it will monitor it real time on your desktop.
Yeah usually it comes with the motherboard driver. The one that came with mine is called Everest. You can probably get some free trial. Anyways 70-80C isn't good at all. What is your airflow like? Front and one side should be blowing in, back, up and the other side should be blowing out. It can also be your power supply tho. If it has to stress to supply your computer for power, it will heat up your whole computer. Then it can also be a heatsink problem, but that usually only occurs after a bad install done by amateurs.
Well after giving the heat sink a good clean out its been running a lot cooler now, the most its gone up to in the last couple of days is 62c I did recently upgrade the PSU as i also thought that might be causing the problem, i went from a 450w -> 650w If it does start going back up i may try replacing the heat sink and fan for a more powerful one.
If that 62 is when you're stressing your computer, then your problem is gone. My CPU never goes over 35 in daily use, but when it I play Crysis for a while it tends to go up to 55 max. The funny thing is, I just use the intel heatsink that came with my processor (dual core e8400). I think I got an incredible airflow with 5 fans.
