    Hi there,

I'm looking to buy a macbook pro from US and have it shipped to Mumbai, India. Does anyone here know the exact details on customs duty and other associated legal hassles of importing laptops?

I wouldn't have bothered importing if it didn't save me atleast INR 22,000 (about $500), including shipping. :)

    Thanks

Its mentioned somewhere in government's website. I don't remember the link but I am sure its 22.4% if cost of the product exceeds Rs. 10k
If the product is used then 106%
Very less chances you pass the duty but they tear off every package and check everything inside it
