.Asia, .Mobi and .Eu = Same group.

Hyped up extensions just to make money for the parties that cooked them up.

That comment was not even in English?

    - Look the fact is this, Most of the generics will sell well ( as we have seen in the pool auctions ), the majority of domains will either be defensive keyword domains to your existing sites or just dross. People are basing their negative answers on just a hunch or an emotional opinion. I have seen brilliant answers against the extension in other forums but none here. You cannot tell me 500 domains bought at $15 3 weeks ago and that are even only worth $100 each not is bad business :p

Look at .EU domains. More and more people are using them but they didn't become trendy. I don't know whether people from various Asian countries share any common Asian identity. They can also look at the .Asia names as a opportunity to establish a new original websites under this web address. To be honest I don't know what would happen.

You will see some nice domain sales coming up shortly for keyword .asia domains but like with .eu domains, you will find hardly any in the SERPS as most of the domains will have been picked up by domainers trying to make a quick buck.

regional based extension will not become a good investment, keep your preferrence with .TDL, such .com, .net, .info, .biz, etc

    hmmm xc06,
just question though you mentioning you know how asian thinks.

There are 37 different countries in asia. How would you describe you know how asian think? I'm Japanese but I don't know how chiense people think or korean people think... they all think different to me. even though I have friends from those countries still I can't understand sometime.
same for my friends from india, thai, etc.

I'm seeing lot of japanese people chinese, korean people buying .asia domains like they do on their coutry TLDs. and making use out of it. to me some .jp domains were good investment and .asia also will be good investment to me. I think it's just what type of domain you buy, and how well that is marketed makes the difference. More broad term .asia makes it in the way more easier to target certain market. like travel etc, and I also think this is more of long term to make good money from those domains.

Maybe it is better to let time tell. :)

I agree that generic .asia domain will have a reasonable price.

It's only the next big thing until something else is introduced to take its place. People buy the domains while they're available. When they're all gone, nobody will remember .ASIA existed :p

Or maybe I have no clue what I'm talking about (very possible) :)

i hardly think getting a .asia domain is going to be the next big thing...unless you just get one as a "secondary" domain

my biggest question is -- are most of these .asia sites going up completely in English, even if they're targeting that region? Does that even make sense, and would they even be successful, or would you be forced to get them translated?

asia.asia would be an awesome domain name, but other than the obvious country.asia ones, I think it will be useless.

I was typing in various things through euroDNS to see if any .asia's of interest were available. I think every word was taken...amazing.
