Depending on the directory, sometimes you just have to remove / from the end of the URL.

Regarding character minimums, it means the directory has set a minumum so that your description must have at least 100 characters upon submission.

This is to prevent descriptions that are simply too short.

make sure the url contains http:// ,

It's often down to the way the php is written so I'm told. Most scripts require you to put in http:// as well as the www, or www.anysitename.com etc. The trailing slash / shouldn't make a difference.

I met directories which revealed impossible errors. For example, some of them were saying that my site name doesn't exist. To make an experiment, i tried to enter any other site name, but the situation repeated. As far as I understood,in this way a directory owner just wanted to get rid of free submission of new directories...because paid listing worked perfectly

i've seen some in which the trailing slash / does make a difference, if it's present it sais the url is not valid.

The trailing slash should automatically get parsed by the script, or at least that's what many programmers have told me. Perhaps they are wrong though.?

your homepage is redirecting to the
yoururl.index.html than there may be possibilities of error.
Try to put the exact url, it works.

no you are right, many do that , but as you might know there have been many scripts showing up lately and well...some of them need a little more work. As i said, i was the trailing slash not working, with my own eyes. :)

    My 2 cents:

    1. Many directories expect http some don't like http and there are also some that are fine with or without http :) So while submitting you should be ready with these options. 'Most' directories should be fine with http :)

    2. Many directories expect minimum 250 character description but MOST would expect just 100-250 character description so keep both long and short description ready :)

    3. Most directories would expect 5 or more comma separated keywords.

    4. Most directories would also expect that 'meta description' is smaller than 250 characters
