I use movable type which allows me to ping other sites and weblogs when I update. Which sites do you use? How do you decide which blogs to ping and how do you find them? Is it polite to ask permission?
You should ping your site every time you have new contents on it. Try to use Pingomatic or Pingoat for your pinging needs.
