This is kind of an extension/tangent from another thread. I didn't want to hijack the thread, so I'm starting a new one. Someone said: The only suggestion that I can think of is that you do not have too many inter linking between the sites on your shared plan having the same IP address. e.g. addon site A with a text link to addon site B etc. I've heard that it can effect SEO. Anyone else heard of this? I have this situation. I have a three sites that link to and from each other. One site is free and it contains scores of links to the other sites that sell different products. There is a lot of this back and forth linking... and, yes, they're on the same shared hosting account. My question is this: Is it worth me getting a second hosting account.... or should I just keep it as-is? I only make less than a thousand per month from the three sites combined, so another hosting account would be a major expense. Does anyone have any idea HOW MUCH might it improve my position SERPs? Should I justify getting a second account or should I just keep on going with the shared account? I've been wondering this for a long time now. Any thoughts/opinions are appreciated. Thanks.
Diffeernt class C IPS can make a big difference to one way linking. You may better get another account. If you have a linking structure like one site links to other two sites, you just need to get a new account more. It should cost you something like $6-$8 which is not a big deal considering that you make around $1000. Or you can looking into SEO friendly hostings that offer diff. class C Ips for add-on domains. A cheap option would be to get an IX web hosting account "business plan" (expert plan offers no mysql)
see this is common case for many website owners.. many big sites are hosted on shared hosting plan and reciprocate the links with each other. my suggestion is 1) it is not a probs to do internal linking but your site must be relevant 2) dont post link on not relevant site.. and follow google guidelines. 3) if your site is very important than put it on another server.. it will be better. make sure that your link must look natural, dont put it jut to get link juice.
Ok I haven't read the other thread and others posts but let me clarify what the thing is - 1. If all sites are on same C class IP, than Google very generously assumes that you are the owner of the sites even though you are on shared and the sites are of someone else. I don't think too much interlinking is such a Great idea. Try to avoid a loop, where A->B->C->A in terms of link pointing. 2. I don't think looking for another host is a good idea, if u just want to link from one site of yours to others. If one of your site is Total authority than it might be worthy but otherwise, its useless. Don't waste your time on such small petty things
I cannot find any evidence they base it on a sites IP, running the same Adsense/Analytics or having the same Whois info poses more risks. I know for a "fact" they use Whois data.
