Please review my classifieds site called www.waunt.com It is a new site. But it has a neat concept and should take off soon. thanks
I like it, I would just move the logo over to the left and use a white background on the logo instead of the off shade of blue. Might waunt to make it a tad bit bigger so it starts at the far left and ends about at the "for sale" category. Just a thought... Just uploaded the size you have now ith the white bg and a slightly bigger size one that should extend to the "for sale" area. feel free to use the attached if you would like, Best of luck with it.
How about capitalizing the first letter of every categories. looks like you are using a mixture of both and it kind of looks unprofessional
Your welcome, another thing I noticed is when you go to the main domain waunt.com the default city is Oklahoma City, United States. So when I first went to the site I thought this was a waunt ad based out of Oklahoma. I would somehow change the default landing page to this one http://waunt.com/?cityid=-1&lang=en (United States), That way visitors know that it covers the whole US. If I were looking to buy and or sell and I came across your page and the first thing I saw was Oklahoma City, I would continues on and find something either local or national. Attached are those other variations of the logo... Let me know
Guys you have all been wonderful with your reviews. I think I have I made all the corrections. Also do you all think the logo would better with or without the .com on it ?
I love the "waunt" gimmick. Very smart. Having said that, the layout is pretty stock. You may get a better response if you inject some more color and irreverent content like jokes or videos that play to the "waunt" theme. This domain makes me think Amazon was a dumb choice for a domain. Good idea and Good Luck!
Thanks for the productive comments. Well me goal is pretty simple, just have a big, popular and highly profitable classifieds site. ( much easier said, then done.) I was not sure if the waunt gimmick was going to pan out. You have to be creative these days when selecting a domain, because your choices are very limited, unless you have the cash to fork out for one of those type domains. I actually was thinking the same thing for on the whole waunt theme idea. I have this idea about a funny cartoon. We will see if it works.
Nice site.Did you use a script or it was hand coded? Where do you advertise if you don't mind me asking?
I want to see the cartoon! ^_^ Anyway I love the domain name and the site is nice and clean. Great job and good luck!
It is custom made, but it originates from an old script that no longer has any support with it, but based off it, which was modified quite a bit. Believe it or not. I have used google adwords some, but have not been real succesful with them. Im sure it is just my ads and not google. Rather expensive too as well. Most of it is coming from word of mouth, and I am trying to build links and really just get it well known. It takes time and patience. Everything was going real slow at first. Maybe like 10-20 ads a day at first, and then all of a sudden, I was getting 100,s of ads every day. Today I got almost 200 ads, and over 1000 searches for waunt they where looking for. So who knows how it will do. As far as the cartoon, I will might just put it in the about us page when I get done with it. Spam is a big problem, maybe one day if it makes it big, I hire some people and just dedicate them to it. Thanks guys.
Just another thought, well three actually... I would add a database field (number of items) beside the categories so you know what category has how many items. I know you said you have had many submissions but when you go to the site it looks like nothing has changed. Maybe a script near the top or on the left showing total items and items posted today etc... Second I would also pull the last three or so entries from the database and have them displayed above the categories or on the left below post and image, just another way to refresh the content. And last I would consider some tactfully placed AdSense either with the submission or within the category but I would shy away from placing any on the main page.
