    Hi,

I'm planning to run a WordPress MU and and offer free blog hosting.
Any suggestions about a good web hosting company that support wordpress MU ?

    Thanks

Most web hosts with PHP/MySQL can support WordPress MU

i would be careful if you plan on using shared hosting, only took a few thousand blogs for wordpress mu to lock up my mysql and im on a vps.

Well, it all depends on how popular you expect your site to be. You probably could start off on shared hosting and then move up to a VPS.

I'd take a look at Media Template, they're a more high-end web host.

I expect hosting 500 blogs in one year. Is necessary Dedicated Server?
Reseller Web Hosting from hostgator is a good solution?
Do you have positive experience with hostgator?

once again i will say that i would not recommend shared hosting, also if you want the blogs to be setup as blog.domain.com you need to edit the httpd.conf which will require root access.

I would check out http://1and1.com as they have some very nice plans, some are shared hosting, some are not.

If you accept blogs with adult content (and you can't control 100% of the content anyway) be careful with TOS

For instance 1&1 does not accept adult content

If you want to provide sub-domains to you users (username.DOMAINNAME.com instead of DOMAINNAME.com/blogs/username for instance) you will have to deal with the wildcard DNS record issue

    ;)
