I also totally recomend Idev Affiliats; in my experience as a publisher it has some solid tracking, easy payment processing and it's a very simple way to start your own affiliate program. It familiar, easy and works well. Best of luck to you.

Theres some reviews of affiliate program software here. The most common ones I see lately that others use are idevaffiliate and affiliatepro.

I think I'm going with the idev basic 99$. The extras and addons aren't worth it if you ask me besides the nofication one for $50. I like that you can go 2 levels deep.

If you join a large network like Comission Junction you'll instantly gain access to a savvy community of top affiliates. However, for the $99 fee you mentioned; idev is a steal! What are the other add ons? The 2nd tier commission option you mentioned is great and can really help recruit new affiliates, making it easy to counter the power of the major marketing networks.

    try jam.jrox.com

i just purchased their software and it's quite powerful. it allows you to set up text links, text ads, articles, videos, pdfs and some other stuff for your affiliates to distribute.

the only limitation i've seen so far is that there is no autoresponder built into it, though it's easy to bridge with aweber and the like.

I'm thinking I definitely need client notification. People need to know / be reminded when a sale is made. Also if I understand correct one of them has 2 tier flat payout while the other has a commission base? If one did go on a commission basis do they have the capability of scaling percentage with the number of daily uniques or some other factor?

Still leaning towards idev for $100 + $50 notification kit.

JAM does this, too. plus, when i made my purchase I was offered a 50% discount if i purchased right then. it made it cheaper than idev, which i've also used.

I was going to mention JROX but see its already mentioned but that would be my choice, it was the first affiliate software I came across before iDev and I actually liked it since. Although the price tag is a bit more steep then iDev, its still my choice for affiliate software...

Idev is cool but was a real hassle to setup and integrate with PHPLD. We had to make mod to the directory script to send the return and give commission before they paid but in a way to still avoid spam submissions with no intention of paying.

I also like the tier thing. Not sure if jrox has tiers but they are crucial IMO. I love that feature but I'm assuming it's quite standard of any quality 3rd party affiliate program software.

Here's the blog affiliate program I made with idev.

I also bought the commission alert addons but I read somewhere that they have to install it on their pc? Maybe I was skimming but after seeing that I never bothered doing anything with them as no one would install a software on their pc to notify them of an affiliate program. Well maybe but for the most part if that is the case it's useless for many applications imo.

i been playing around with jrox and i like the interface, just need to adjust some colors and banners and it will be good - but it was a pain to setup some things and even test - I guess I should have gon with a monthly aff service to make things easier

There really is no "best" - it depends on your must haves and nice to have feature requirements.
