Can anyone recommend any good free link exchange directories (where you exchange links with other webmasters). I am currently using LinkMarket.net they offer a good free service, however i need more links. Thanks
Try the link exchange section in the BST section. It is the best that I know of. Just remember to exchange with relevant sites, not by PR.
Just purchase one way back links friend. You really are wasting a lot of time looking for 'free' link exchanges. In order to find a link worth the value of your pr in the same niche takes a lot of time not to mention you do not want reciprocating links...big no no with the mighty G. Hollar if you need any help.
Google never said link exchanges where a big "no-no" as you put it, in fact they actual phrase they use in the webmasters quality guidelines is "Excessive reciprocal links or excessive link exchanging", hence the "excessive" part of that statement. http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=66356 Now, the reason SEO consultants try to avoid link exchanges is because they have less value than a one-way backlink. Your main goal is to be able to build quality relevant one-way backlinks to your web page(s). They carry much more weight\value than an actual link exchange.
Rich quality useful content, why else would someone link to your webpage unless it was useful or entertaining?
I understand rich quality content is the key, however to speed up your websites move up the ranking what are the most effective means of link development (apart from quality and useful content)?
