If I am spending 7-8 hours doing website work per day, what are ways in which I can protect my eyes? I would appreciate any help. Thanks
Well there's a mix of things, but primarily - take breaks every so often. As well as stretch and making sure your posture is correct - because you don't want RSI or blood circulation problems (DVT?). Oh and blinking helps. lol
Found it on digg http://www.rd.com/healthy-living/health/easy-ways-to-improve-your-vision/article16089.html
thanks for the link. After reading that and searching on google I have found a number of things that can help.
Apart from the dietary recommendations given in the link, you can do some eye relaxation exercise. That helps to provide a better vision
Ok, here is what I have learned: -position the screen at least 50cm away -tilt the screen on a 10 degree angle -when looking strait ahead and directly forward, make the top of the screen slightly below your view -take a break every 1 hour for 5 minutes -blink -reduce brightness -increase text size -every ten minutes look into the distance and focus far away -close your eyes every now and again -use eyedrops -get anti-glare screen -use computer glasses -position the screen away from glare -when typing of a sheet of paper, position it the same distance as the screen (get one of those clip things) -use LCD not CRT (use flat screen) These are just the main points that I remember.
what would be classed as high quality? Mine is a 19" wide screen AOC LCD monitor that cost around $300AUD. I am thinking of buying computer glasses as well, are there different types or are they prescription?
Just buy a good monitor. I don't care about the money which i spend to monitor. Cause it's for my health.
- dont play computer in dark room - adjust your monitor brightness - install monitor filter hope thats help
yeah, don't work in a dark room and don't have an uncovered window behind your monitor. Adjusting the font size also helps eyestrain.
Just take a break once in a while and make sure that your eyes stay moist. You don't want it red, tiring, and straining all at the same time. It would make it worst. Using the computer in a dark room is bad too just like what everyone else said.
