A few minutes ago someone added me on MSN who said he was from DP however I could not find his ID. He was asking for free domains. he did not send an files, it was just a normal conversation until my screen went black and the blue screen of death came up. I instantly paniced and held the button down on my pc until it switched off. My computer was slow to start up and as soon as I logged onto MSN I blocked and deleted the guy. Everything seems to be working normal now. Have I been hacked or was it just random that I was talking to this guy when it happened.

edit: the only thing that I was doing differently today was that I installed PeerGuardian2 (Vista test) and started downloading the radiohead discography through Wyzo. Could this have anything to do with it?

Beware of dealing with unknown persons. May be an unsuccessful hacking attack?

I hope it is nothing serious. I am currently scanning my system with NOD32.

I think it's very obvious that the person who claimed to be a DP member was responsible for your "blue screen of death." Maybe you should not chat with people you do not know when you are on msn.

The weird thing was that a few minutes before I posted a problem in the payment processing forum which was my first post in that section. The gut probably hangs around looking for people with paypal accounts. Could someone with experience please advise me what to do now? Has the threat gone? Or could the guy be hacking me now? How can I ensure my passwords/sites/paypal is not hacked in to. BTW: I was like 95% through downloading radiohead and for some reason I have to start the download again, what a waste of 800MB. I would appreciate any help. Should I reboot my PC?

    BTW: 500th post!!!

    You are at no risk!

If someone was hacking your computer there would be absolutely no reason for them to give you a BSOD, they would do everything in the background without you realizing.

Thats awfully scary. Maybe remove your MSN contact details from DP? I wouldn't doubt if it was someone trying to gain access to your Paypal. You never know these days, scammers and thiefs are showing their presence more and more lately.
