ok i dont know much about hosting so im looking for some insight. Im currently with godaddy hosting and I want some stronger solutions. I have upcoming projects that will include lots of video streaming, blogging and social media traffic. I need a server that can handle lots of video streams, faster loading blogging articles, and be able to handle digg and stumble front page traffic. I need lots of space since I will have many video files, lots of bandwidth, and not have slow loading pages. The server should also be able to handle unlimited websites, have dedicated IP address, FTP, email and etc. I really need everything that godaddy offers, but with faster loading pages and the most latest PHP version. Finally Im really looking for an option around $50 a month, but willing to go a little higher if needed. If you need any other info, please let me know
Hi, PulseVPS can provide you with exactly what you're looking for. Take a look at our standard plans from www.pulsevps.co.uk or get in touch with us directly for a custom quote! Pre-Sales Questions? Thanks for your time!
I recommend going with dedicated server. i had couple of streaming video sites in the past and the concern was on bandwidth and storage as you mentioned, so if you are willing to expand and get popular start with dedicated server...will PM you some recommended hosts.
Think A2hosting.com dedis will meet your needs IMO. They support Apache 2.2, PHP 5.2.5, MySQL 4.1.x, MySQL 5.0.x, PostgreSQL 8.2.x, Ruby on Rails 2.0. and their Advanced Hosting Technology sounds great.
$50 is not much for a powerful dedicated however you can start on a strong VPS and move onto a dedicated when you have built up your traffic. We can provide a very decent linux VPS for you budet. We own all equipment and datacenter so with us you can upgrade when ever you need to. Please let me know if you need more information Thanks
For video downloading, you would need a server closed with your (or your customers) location. Which state in the US do you prefer? And how many GB of space, bandwidth do you need?
You actually may not need a VPS at all, depending on how much space and bandwidth you are looking for. Our 'shared' hosting is unique in the fact that we don't restrict resource usage. So you'd be hosted on a dual quad-core Xeon with 8 GB RAM, RAID 1 and get to use whatever you need. Everything would be fast and fully managed with great support. Please feel free to PM, IM, email, or send a support ticket ( http://billing.littlbuger.info ) to us if you are interested or want me information. I'm sure we can help you no matter the situation. Thank you.
Well you may want a VPS anyways due to the nature of your site. Will you be hosting your videos on your own server or will you be linking to them? Either way, its a big load on Apache especially using the 'GET' command. Let me know if you need a solid VPS and i can help. Regards, Ryan
Hi everyone, yes I am still looking for a good VPS or dedicated solution. The video sizes I am guessing will be around 10mb - 100mb max. For site 1 I would size the maximum videos would be 100 so that would be about 10gigs. For site 2 the videos could be about the same amount and size so Im am probably looking for about 20 gigs minimum for space, maybe another 10 gigs for pages and etc. For an example video check out the videos on www.robdogg.com. They seem a bit choppy now and pages are slow to load. I need this to be fast... @hranitel The servers need to be the most up to date PHP and MySql versions @xpsave I don't mind start small and growing over time, provided the video streams and page loading will not be slow loading with the initial amount of traffic. As traffic grows and I begin to monetize, growing to larger more powerful and expensive solutions is fine. @gate2vn My customers are world wide. I get lots of traffic from US, Canada, Europe and others but those are the main. @LittlBUGer I need lots of space and bandwidth since godaddy servers are already being brought down to a crawl. In fact I stopped posting and making new videos because its so slow. Current traffic ranges from 100UV up to 1000UV per day, this can easily grow with additional marketing efforts. I imagine I need a solution that can manage 10,000UV per day to start, I can grow after that or expand into a larger solution once this mark is reached. @rllunzmann I host my own videos, I am going to be develop a private section of videos only accessible through secure client login and I do not want the video's freely distributed around the net. Therefore I do not want my videos on youtube or etc. If there is a video hosting company that would be a better solution to host videos for private use and then link in via private client center than that would be fine as well. @whatyaknow USA server locations only, sorry UK hosts =( Hosting Advisor Yes I am hoping to make a final decision by end of month
I am not sure where the Godaddy datacenter, but I believe it's in Phoenix, AZ, and in that case, your European customers might see a bit slower. Will have a better performance, if you have server in central like Houston, Dallas (TX) or Chicago (IL), or the US east coast.
Robertpriolo, having a basic VPS or Dedicated server for $50 wont be powerful enough. Most likely you will hit a Hard Drive bottleneck read/write speed. You will need multiple hard drives with Raid 0 (preferable Raid 10 for backup and speed). Never-the-less I can offer you a dedicated server with 2000GB of monthly traffic for $49.99. And I would suggest going with a SCSI hard drive. CPU: Celeronâ„¢ 2.4GHZ 400FSB Memory: 512MB DDR RAM Hard Drive: 60GB or 36GB SCSI Bandwidth: 2000GB/MONTH IP Addresses: 5 Port: 10/100MBPS SWITCHED VLAN Management: BASIC MANAGED DDOS Protection: TOP LAYER NETWORKSâ„¢ Price: $49.95/MONTH PM me and I'll send you a direct order link. If you want it in Windows OS I can also give you a SmarterTools.com bundle pack of software (SmarterMail v5, SmarterStats, SmarterTracker). Valued at more than $600. Windows OS is $24 more a month.
