WordBay - new FREE WordPress/eBay plugin: create a niche site in minutes!

Apologies for the bump - I had to edit this ancient thread because I still keep getting enquiries about this old, old version of my plugin. The information was no longer relevant - Wordbay has come on a long, long way since then :) You are still welcome to check it out of course :) But sorry, it's not "FREE" anymore, but I can't change the title...

    ------------

I am another one who has been working on a WordPress plugin that can be used to quickly and easily create a WP-based eBay niche site. I decided to make it freely available (no charge, but you can cut me in on the impressions :) ).

I've called it... WordBay! Darn, that was a working title, but it stuck!

Here is an example of WordBay at work: Wordbay live demo - this took me around 20 minutes to get set up (though I am practiced :) )

[BIG EDIT - INFORMATION NO LONGER APPLICABLE]

Go check out the WordBay Wordpress eBay plugin, and start making money... maybe!!

Cool. I'll try to - I am incredibly busy and not really a programmer at all (look in the code and you'll probably see that right away!). But I guess if enough people start using it (and share their revenue love a little :) ) I will be motivated to support it more.

The plugin would probably suit relative novices and "small-time" webmasters (like me!) The big boys will probably prefer more advanced, custom solutions.

yeah rightly said but everything has to be started from the scratch and then only modifications are done with passage of time..

Weird why there are 404 errors. Some people have downloaded so there isn't a problem as such. Do you mean the whole site is 404, or the PAGE with the download link, or when you click on the actual download?

Awesome, I'm really glad people are getting this working - you just never know when you let a can of worms like this out of the bag (erm, you know what I mean).

As for the holy grail - the traffic plugin, erm, I'm working on it :)

Actually, provided you get some backlinks going and provide Google with a sitemap, you can get a small amount of search traffic - the more content, the more search traffic, simple as that. So that's why people set up dozens of sites like this, though it might be more worthwhile investing time and effort in ONE...

Let me know how you get on.

The 404s are coming from the links in the middle of this page.
You've left '/wordbay/' out of the urls :p

The links on the left work though, I've just downloaded it. Looks like a nice script.

Not a silly question, but no, unfortunately not, pretty much impossible, unless you inserted it in an iframe, or something, which means you would still have to install it somewhere!

This is written in php, whereas Blogspot has its own funny little language (what IS that language, anyway!?).

Not a bad idea though, maybe I could see if it's doable, though as I say I am not really a programmer, I just learn languages easy :)

P.S. This would be tricky because the plugin relies a lot on WordPress code, especially the built-in feed parser, so I can't really see it for now. You would probably be better off installing one of the widgets that eBay provides, though they are JavaScript of course, so not very flexible or SEO-friendly...

This plugin looks pretty cool, i like the two column listings. Will definately try this, thanks for sharing for free Mark.

About the search function that users can use and it takes them to an ebay search results page. Isn't there a way to make the search results display within your own site? instead of sending them straight to ebay? I know you can do this with bans but i've not seen anyone do this with wordpress.
