I keep hearing Content is King

    OK,

I've been around when it comes to "computers", and remember connecting to the educational backbones and jumping off onto the "internet" on my super fast 100 bps modem & surfing using Gopher.

However, while I'm not new to developing & writing content, developing websites, programming etc, I am relatively new to SEO.

I keep hearing that content is king.

My questions to the SEO experts are:

    1) How often do you have to provide fresh content to your website?

    2) When can you expect to see some results from writing fresh content (ie when will your pages start to rank in search engines)?

    Thanks in advance.

    1) There's no particular length of time between content addition, but if you expect visitors coming back to your site, they won't appreciate an erratic 5 posts on one day, then no posts for a month.
It depends on what your website is about too.
The more fresh content the better, but it's not necessary to churn out as much as possible all the time. Just get some consistency going.

    2) It's highly dependent on the theme and niche of your website and how competitive it is. If your content is truly great and unique in a market not that competitive, then you can expect to be ranked fairly quickly and high.
If there are lots of other sites similar to yours and your content, that's where SEO steps in. You'll need proper on and off page optimisation and link building techniques to get ahead of your competition and other websites.
If you don't know how to do those...that's what this forum is for. Keep reading around and learning SEO tips and techniques.
    Best of luck!

I am making it a point to post 1 quality article a day, that is hand written, unique content.

I have gone from 0 traffic on a new site to approximately 100 visitors a day after 2 weeks.

The other sites that I run have been very mature sites that I have had for quite some time, the traffice has been there on those for some time and I do extremely well on those niches. I never really had to come look for the traffic there, but I am finding that I do on the new ones that I build.

I thought that I could use a mesh type approach on all my other sites and have them drive traffic to the new ones ... I get some traffic, but not alot.

The majority of my traffic is coming from me working my behind off to build the traffic, obtain links, attract interest.

Plus, the sites I run have been profiles in the local area where I live and that's drawn some attention.

This is a lot harder than what I do for a living! LOL!

    So, this is good! :)

It is much harder trying to do this with a bit of knowledge than it was to do it serendipitously (did I spell that right)? LOL!

Is it a big deal though, to miss a day of posting something? Writing articles I have found is extremely time consuming. Doing the research, writing, editing, posting and then making sure you get your key words integrated though the content is a MAJOR task.

I am hoping that this will pay off in the long run.

I mentioned in my reply, there's no set period of time that's suitable or 'the best'. It really doesn't matter.

Yes it's true content is king, you have to regular update your site content and always refresh them, and gain your quality back links then you can achieve your goal and when you done it( got your ranking) then do the same things which you did, and update yourself and read DP regularly.

If that's a lot harder than what you do for a living, then you must have a very EASY job.

No, it is NOT a big deal to miss a day of posting something. What I try to do, ideally, is post one article or blog post each day Monday through Friday. Saturday and Sunday is generally off. Many times, however, I don't get something published each weekday. It's no big deal. Three times a week. Two times a week. It will vary.

And YES, it definitely will pay off in the long run. You just keep at it and you will start to have some very consistent traffic. It's cool how that works.
