Hi everybody, This is my first post here on DP and I haven't read all the basic stuff about online marketing etc., so don't be to harsh. My question is, why do you use AdSense? I think an average eCPM with AdSense is around 2$ (average CTR 0.6%, average click 0.25$) or less. Now here in Switzerland and Germany are some companies that pay you around 25$ for a leading board banner and 1000 impresssions, that if I'm not wrong would be an eCPM around 25$ . Some of the sites that I know (like www.students.ch) try to contact the companies that want to show ads on the internet (like UBS, Dove, Nestle etc.) directly and get around 30-40$ for 1000 impressions. I don't know why you people don't go to such companies and try to get much more for your ads? Or are there some premises for using their services? I don't get the difference... I mean the discrepance between the two eCPMs is huge! Thanks for your answers.
I think you are right but there is a brand name "Google" and the people have faith. In my opinion Google Adsense is giving the good services to their publishers. That's why everyone is using Google Adsense like anything.
google is good for just filling up some space on sites you have it also had good keyword targeting. I have sites with adsense that pay ok, sure every one knows theirs heaps of CPM companies out their that pay better but most of the lil guys start with adsense, why because they will accept any one.
Theres usually a bit of space on each of my websites and running adsense in that space makes sense, it offers something to those visiting, sure when they click an ad they are leaving my websites but if they are leaving anyway then i might as well get paid for it.
i agree that google is a very well know brand name all over.That makes the people attracted to it.Inspite of being such a big advertising gaint,google is good at paying to the publishers.Lastly publishers just have to paste the code and think abt the traffic generation...rest is taken care by google.So i feel due to this many people all over rely on google much more than any other network.
I find Adsense pretty good and are very easy to use. And gives me a pretty good pay compared to other ad programs.

Adsense is for lazy people or people that dont have time to manage all their sites. there is more money in other things than adsense.
People use Adsense because of the Google name. People buy Coke even though it is pricier than the generic brand but taste the same because of a brand name.
