No, it was a hyperbolic paraboloid. Big difference.. The dude got all pissed off when I called it a geo-dome. I thought he was gonna kick me the jimmy...

He kept spouting, hyperbolic paraboloid, hyperbolic paraboloid hyperbolic paraboloid.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paraboloid

I was on his roof, believe me, it really is a hyperbolic paraboloid, not a geodesic dome. HUGE difference!!!

so it had a single outside plane whereas a geodome is made of triangles matched together? is that the difference?

For the job I was doing out there, I typically do take pictures. Unfortunately they would not let me. It's one of these retreats for couples. The whole place is a huge compound in the woods. The people that own it live there in their hyperthingy...

All I can say is the project involved a lot of cameras and wireless connections. They video the couples.. It's friggin weird.. Its not a nudist colony, it was a weekend retreat for troubled couples. I got the feeling it was a friggin swingers club. I'm almost convinced that is what it is. These people were FREAKY DIKY!!!!

So sorry, no pics... I've probably said too much already. They are probably watching me now.

Sheesh, did you even look at that link and the pretty picture?

yes, and I have trouble imagining how that image can be made into a home, other than having a center mass and all sides pointing down.

Very cool things. I'd like to build an underground one. You might like this vid, a dome by Dante Bini built in 60mins!
    Me too.
Any Google map link to the house, let's spy on them. :)

True, I've met Dennis Hopper once and the guy is close to 80 and looks like way younger than my dad who is 60.

Depends on yoru lifestyle and spirit I believe, drinking beer and watching soccer all day hasn't helped my dad one bit.

Same with my wife. They had the same machine at work. We have a bat hear for just such occasions... You'd be surprised what you can do with a Linksys router and the right bat!
