Does a link in a flash page have any value?

I got an email from a site who wanted to trade links with one of my sites, but they're offering me a link on a flash page rather than an html link.

I guess that that sort of link - while useful for people browsing - will not be read by search engines, am I right???

My advice is stay clear of flash, keep it simple with html and the search engines will love you

You are exactly correct. The search engine crawlers do not parse flash content. That's the main thing that is preventing flash from taking over the web. It's a cool tool, but it's a liability as far as SEO is concerned.

yeah search engines dnt crawl images. i mean the text hidden in images(alt tags) is not read by the search engines. so its just a wastage
