I thought you said you were training, working towards becoming a lawyer?

Whats your speciality? what University did/are you studying law at?

 

Read my text Pipes, (Fingers crossed). Although I do have my nice piece of paper in a ribbon called a Degree. Speciality is IP Law but I covered pretty much every aspect from Criminal to European Law, doing a Masters while playing around on here, thought why not, it'll earn me more later on and its only part time.

Not telling you the University although I have been known to loiter on the campus down at Cardiff Law school and in the Uni of Glamorgan.

There's a wide range of Lawyers you can be from a Solicitor who does all the work for less money to the barrister who does hardly any work but gets all the money. I might even go down the route of Company secretary as the money is huge and it really interests me.

Until then I can sit on my big fat one and pretty much do as I like. Anyway, this thread isn't about me, its about that domain. I would have definately snapped it up for $400 and sold it on at a healthy profit.

 

funny if you think of the time and effort that goes into making a good directory...$400 sounds like nothing.

Intellectual Property Law, are you sure that you go to University?

Yes im aware that Law covers many different things, that why i asked about a speciality, Barristers i wouldn't say do hardly anything, you dont becaome a Barrister overnight.

It sounds odd that your here doing this when you are supposed to be going into Intellectual Property Law

Why would you become the company secretary when your interest would be in patents, copyrights and trademarks???

What's it got to do with you? Why do a large majority of barristors go on to become MP's? It's called choice.

Pipes, this is not your thread and your interest in my personal life is irrelevant to this post not fair to the OP. But I'll humour you and in answer to your question; It would take me a year to sit a pupilage, and then rather than me give you a lesson read here. As for my choice of career, I'm really not sure what it has to do with you? Suffice to say you don't have to practice what you study, i.e property law, in fact most law students don't go on to become Lawyers as its a bitch to get into chambers.

I don't have that worry but still don't know what I plan to do and this gap year will let me decide.

You really need to learn about the life of a Barristor, they get paid for talking while the Solicitors and Juniors do all the groundwork.

There is a major downside to being in the Legal profession though, you can't go up to people and smack them in the mouth if they play on your nerves, so perhaps a career as a company secretary might better suit me.

A large majority of Barristers go onto becoming MP's because most of them are freemasons, its a natural progression within the brotherhood, and so leads to lawyers, politicians, police, teachers and other key figures in society getting a helping hand.
