Yes, it's home truth, that we have no choice. There is no serious alternative or competitor to Google. That is why we use it more and more frequently, while many of us understand that such dminance just impeades advanced technologies development and makes the market monopolistic.

"Adsense is such a great opportunity for real webmasters to make money "

Sorry but Adsense rips off webmasters and gives them pennies while Google takes the vast majority of profit. If there were more competition, Google would be forced to pay a decent share and offer better service to webmasters.

Let's face it, more competition is better for everyone, webmasters and SE users. As webmasters we need to promote alternatives. Power corrupts!

Use Yahoo.com and Live.com? So are you saying that these two websites are not a marketing company? Aren't trying to be the monopoly in the market? ...and won't steal your (if it's really yours) ads money?

Dude, if there's no Google I bet you won't be having a website at the first place.

    Nice rant, anyway.

Follow the rules and Google will be good to you. They send you the traffic and they also pay you for the traffic. All they ask is for you to abide by their guidelines and TOS.

I'm not going to read thru 200+ posts to see if it's been mentioned but stay away from Google Cash if you're peddling an ebook that they might consider "get rich quick". They'll shut you down.

Thanks for the interesting post. I thought it was written today rather than back in July.

I think they should consider changing their "do no evil" slogan.

I wish to strongly object to this point of yours. Adblock steals money from website owners. Content writers spend hours writing content to monetise it. They don't do it as a social service. By using adblock, you are effectively ripping webmasters of content sites, by viewing the content and not paying for it (in terms of not viewing the ads).

Infact many prominent bloggers have recently made their blogs viewable only on IE, because of this adblock firefox add-on.

I agree 100%. Today some school kids are making more $$$ than their parents. All this thanks to google and its innovative adsense program. Millions of people have benefitted from google. Though competition will do good to the industry, I think google is still by far the best in its industry.

Yahoo and live at best are 25% of organic search.

Depending on the niche, Google may have 80%+ share of the organic search

Rather than ranting you need to learn how to work withinn the system so that you get your cheese

Back when I used IE I blocked adwords ads by not trusting the adwords network. Now I use Firefox, but only because IE7 sucks beyond comprehension... so I certainly hope that those that block FF are annoyed at thier fantastic new Microsoft product, and I hope they are keeping their Alexa up by using the actual alexa bar... lol.

Though, I do find it extremely sad that anyone would consider blocking FF based on an addon. FF is a smaller (but seemingly growing) percentage of users, and of that smaller percentage an even smaller percentage use such ad blockers. They deserve to loose the money they could have earned from being so FOR Google they tell everyone using FF to bugger off.

Overall google is going to end up ruling the world anyway. So just accept it. For the most part google has a reason for everything that it does.
