Many so called big time gurus send out emails every day and claim they make more money. Would love to hear from non self proclaimed gurus on this. Do you find sending out daily makes you more money? Or does sending out daily just piss off your list members? Re's Rob Whisonant
It really depends on how much traffic your site has. I would never consider sending out a daily newsletter because i) it would be a lot of work and ii) many users would start to find it annoying and consider it as spam, thus removing their emails from the newsletter. If I were to set up one, I would definitely publish a bi-weekly/fortnightly newsletter for high traffic sites and monthly for new and upcoming sites.
I think send emails daily could be annoying for users. But if you do that, put a link in the email to quit subscription.
I don't send emails never because I don't have selling sites. But if I were to send this kind of emails I would go probably with monthly emails. If you are going to send more emails than that probably your users will be annoyed, as many of us when receiving 3 emails per week from GoDaddy.com
I do agree that I get annoyed when I receive email daily trying to sell me this and that from the same email list I am on. But does it make you more money? Re's Rob Whisonant
It really pisses me off those annoying daily mails, it's too pushy, and I wont hesitate to unsubscribe them immediately.
big time guru's? nah it'll be some guy who graduated in marketing 10 years ago that decides to send emails too reguarly. i get f***ing emails from HMV sometimes twice a day. why they think that bombarding your inbox is anything but unwelcome i will never understand. the only reason i remain subscribed is because i like to get ideas for my e-shots so collect a variety of newsletters. i personally send out emails once every 9-12 days.
That totally depends why the user subscribed at first. Once when I subscribed with a website, I couldn't wait to get the email (was it a bonus, something I wanted fast? ). And I couldn't wait for more. The other time I was annoyed if I got an email from another website even once per month. If you are an email marketeer it all depends on you, what you give, what you offer.
Once every 2 weeks worke like a charm. Your not pestering subscribers, yet not letting them feel neglected, the perfect potion
I send emails every second day. Works well for me. Almost zero unsubscribers from a huge list. I publish a cooking ezine.
I think many people find daily emails annoying, to say the least... Personally, I normally email my list only once or twice a week. All the best, Francois du Toit
Hello, Well depend, if you update information everyday and this information is very important for your users, it is a good idea send emails everyday, but if you want to promote something, I think is better one email per week... Jakomo
I am not sure if I find daily emails annoying, I think it all depends on how good the emails are. If they are always providing great content, then I guess I would like them to come daily. I saw a video from Tellman Knudson on his listbuilding blog where he talks about that you have to push the button daily in order to earn money, meaning you have to send out an email to your list daily. Jens
Ill send an email everyday stating I have a new blog post. But when they sign up it clearly states that I will send an email stating my new post.
It really depends on the focus of your content and the length of your newsletters in my opinion. There's a well respected marketer that sends one out about once a week but they're usually really long so they collect dust in my inbox. Other sites send me newsletters more frequently but they get read fairly often because they're short and sweet. Also, the content plays a big part. If it's a recipe newsletter, I think it would be alright to send out one recipe daily as long as the signup box specifically stated that that is what the subscriber would get upon signing up. On the other hand, a long motivational newsletter could be sent out once every two weeks or more. Long newsletters tend to scare people so it's best not to send those out too often or you'll lose subscribers. I don't think you should go too much longer than 2-3 weeks between newsletters or your subscriber might forget about you, resulting in a lot of "spam" button pushers.
Hello, I am actually just getting started in the IM world, and for me the answer is that I would not want to do to my "customers" what I would not want done to me. Some folks send out information almost every day. They are taking the chance that it will be opened. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. I just assume they are playing a numbers game. The downside for them is that I would probably not consider them as giving me high-quality information and I might well miss a good product from them because I just don't open that day's message. As I build my list, I am going to be very careful about how I handle their time. It is a scarce resource and I intend to honor it. Hopefully, that pays off for me over the long term. Take Care, Jim
Whether you do it daily, weekly, or monthly you should put an unsubscribe link at the bottom. I'd say weekly at the very max; definitely not daily.
