You don't need a gun here for self defence because nobody has guns in the first place. If everyone had guns then a gun would not help you for self defence. And compare our gun crime rates with lets say US. 100.000 to 1 i think it was last year.

I have a gun. I have no idea what it is, but my Dad taught me how to use it and makes me keep it. Sigh.

I own one of the "baby Glocks", the Glock 26.

It's a great gun and I have nothing bad to say about it.

But, my Kahr PM9 is far more concealable. :)

Blow me down. 14 people died out of 100,000. Many, many, many more people die of car accidents. Maybe everyone should walk. Many more people were abused via the internet maybe we should stop using the internet.

I dont have a gun, but am definetely in support of them.

The way I see it a firearm is nothing more than a tool and if you've got a valid reason for having that tool - be that for sport, pest control, self-defence - then so be it.

As mightyb rightly says here in the UK we have some of the most archaic firearms legislation of the western world. Has gun crime decreased now we have made it illegal for everyone - responsible and licenced owners included - to possess handguns? Has it bollocks. Why did they remove handguns from all of those lawful owners in the first place? It was because some inept and twattish Scottish Police force, who knew Thomas Hamilton was a nut case, allowed him to keep the firearm which he subsequently used to carve up the school kids of Dunblane.

I see a lot of people in this thread who would like to become responsible gun owners, but who do not yet own a firearm.

I strongly believe the statement "An armed person is a citizen; an unarmed person is a subject." I do not believe it is the role of a human being to be a subject.

Let's do something fun. Let's devise a contest for one of my web sites, maybe Gun Shots or Fort Liberty, where I give away one or more Maverick 88 8 Shot 12ga Security shotguns.

These are excellent "starter" guns for any collection.

Anyone have a good contest idea?

I want to win as well. Currently I have a Chrome .50 caliber Desert Eagle (Blows watermellons to bits) , Glock, Mossberg model 935 12 Gauge Pump with a full choke, 12 Gauge Defender Shotgun (For the Grizzly Bears here when hiking in the bushes.) , a British 303, 30-06 with a muzzle brake, and a Remington 7mm for taking out the big moose up here!

Whoah just realized the Mavs are 6 and 8 shots. You're only allowed three here in the tube or big trouble lol.

Three in the tube is usually a hunting regulation. For hunting, you put a wooden dowel into the tube to limit it's capacity. :)

Well yes and no.. If you're caught anywhere here with more shells than 3 in the tube you're in big trouble. Or.. even with the plug out of the shotgun. I'm not American though :)

They don't differentiate really between hunting and firearm ownership where I live.

Sad really.. You can't even grandfather assault rifles here now. Semi auto or not. Maximum rounds in a semi auto here is 6 (rifle) :(
