How do I get more traffic on Youtube?

I have been trying out posting some new music videos and movie trailers on youtube to test how they work for driving traffic. I am however struggling to get alot of traffic on the video. For instance I was one of the first people to have up the hellboy 2 trailer but people who uploaded it days later have got more views than me already. What gives? what is the secret to getting a high playing youtube video? Thanks in advance!

Hmm, well you said you got it up quickly and that obviously is important.

Just make sure your title is good, keywords are plentiful and specific, and take the time to customize your channel with a tasteful background image maybe/colours etc. Also, try commenting on other people's videos, possibly add video responses to other people's videos if appropriate, and try to build a friend network there - all which will work to increase your subscriber base which also helps views obviously. Try to make videos which content encourages the possibilties to get embedded in other sites as well.Thats all I can really think of. Best of luck.

You might try putting your video on one of your web sites if you have one. That'll get you more traffic.

The more subscribers you have, the more people will be aware of your new videos, great info. Maybe you should laso try making a viral video (comedy usually work) where people send eachother the video as a prank or joke?

I have tried the same video on Youtube and Metacafe. For me Metacafe seemed to pull in a lot more visits. In fact there was no comparison. I have had quite a few views on some comedy related vids on Youtube but it seem's to take a while for the views to come in.

TubeMogul is worth a go too
