Strange PR Question - my internal page is higher than main page

How is it that one of my internal pages has pr3 and my index page only has pr2 yet there are far more links pointing to the main page, in fact the internal page has barely any?

Could the main page be penalized for something but it passed all the good juice on to the internal page?

That's weird, but it could be that your page may have something vastly more popular? Generally, it should have the same ranking.

You probably have someone passing more pagerank linking to your internal page. Could be that you have a hundred PR0 Links pointing to your home page and 10 PR5 Links Pointing to your Internal Page. It would work out like that... not all links are created equal. :-D

I too agree with americanroyalty...that post of yours must have something really popular that everyone's linking to it.

That is the right way to go. Your posts should be popular and have a good pagerank! Nothing weird in that

This is not strange if you provide great content people will link to it.

Obviously a question of back links. Have you ran back link checker? Are you now passing the PR juice back to your home page with anchor text? That's really what you should be concerned with. Funnel that PR juice.

This is very true. While it is odd to have higher PR on internal pages than home page, his response seems to make the most sense to me.

Actually, I thought that was normal. The reason being that the homepage usually isn't as keyword focused as your internal pages. By that I mean that your homepage might have 20 keywords explaining the contents/purpose of your site and your internal pages focus on one keyword.

    Hope I explained it right:)
