See it in my html here: www.danscartoons.com and wondering if it is:

    #1. Necessary?
    #2. Or unnecessary?

Or, can someone recommend a better tag to stick there? OR: Can this be modified?
    Danke!

It is not Necessary. But i am using this every time.
    I suggest you can remove this Tag : <META NAME="revisit-after" CONTENT="14 days">

Yeah, I was wondering about that "revisit" tag . . . I mean, does the "all knowing" "all seeing" Goog-bot REALLY need to be told to do this? And, by how many days? Like they will make a note of the 14 days and say right, I'll come back and spider him in two weeks . . . yeap, right. OK, I'll remove that!

No need of these 2 meta tags. Use only meta description and meta keyword. Meta keyword is also useless. So you can ignore meta keyword too.

You can still have that tag by making just small change.

    <META NAME="revisit-after" CONTENT="2 days">

Its a complete waste, you are just cluttering up the <head> with pointless code. Anyone suggesting this knows very litte about SEO and the crawling practices of Google.

Think about it, your using the robots meta tag to tell Google to crawl, index & follow all external links. If your not blocking this page via robots.txt than Google will do this anyways, without needing to read this meta element.

you dont need that. all the robots will index and follow by default. if you do not want the robots to index or follow a specific page or links of your site, then you can use noindex, nofollow. but index, follow is a waste of time

#2 And remove the revisit after 14 days meta tag at a minimum. I'd hate to wait 14 days for a new page to be indexed. :(

I see you have no robots.txt file or sitemap.xml file. You may want to create a sitemap and reference it in your robots.txt file. That may be helpful for getting new pages indexed quickly.

I haven't paid much attention to Yahoo and MSN. Do they pay any attention to the OP's "index, follow" META tag?

There are better/other ways to control spiders. I agree that cluttering the meta tag could be a waste and unnecessary.

Submitting a new sitemap would be better after adding content. Ssandecki is the expert on sitemaps. :)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meta_element#cite_note-9 is the citation for the Yahoo! mentioning in that specific URL I displayed, I should of been more descriptive where you could verify that. The cite is from the Yahoo! blog itself.

    http://blogs.msdn.com/livesearch/archive/2006/05/22/603917.aspx

Talks about adding support for NOOPD, so I'd assume they use the entire standard as well.

I would like to know more about adding a robots.txt file. Is it something that needs to be added to the HTML? where in the code on this page, would I add it and exactly what if anything...needs to be inserted there?

????Loy Maben????rani84jor???? - - - - what is your response in regards to? VAGUE. Do not unstand what you are referring to. I asked more in-depth abouth the robots.txt and sitemap.txt files so am not sure what you're trying to say. Well, let me put it this way, I am not going to worry about anything except to say my pages will be perfect after I delete the <META NAME="robots" CONTENT="index, follow"> in my HTML. Thanks.
