To many crappy designers on DP

How is it that everytime I make a post on DP requesting a designer, even if I state that I do not want any crappy designers that does $100 cheap ass designs based on crappy templates from 1995, I still get tons of messages from "Muhamad from India i do cheap work for you my friend very good"?

Are there any good high quality designers that know both how to do a clean and usable design, including a valid html/css code?

I'm not looking for a $10 000 dollar design! There must be something in between?

(mods: No, don't even think about it. This is not a sales/buy/trade post. I actually want to start a conversation about this).

I know what you mean, Our company have been looking to employ a hgh quality flash website designer for the last 2 weeks, and luckily there are one or two people who are Ok, but never online! The rest are people trying to sell you websites that are not worth $1!

I have attempted to hire virtually every internet professional there is. From web designers to php developers. One of my criteria is that they must be from the US. I have nothing against foreigners I just prefer to keep my money in my country. The only problem I have is the price tag associated with alot of American work. But if I can't find someone in America to do it for a price I want to pay, then I just learn to do it myself :)

I think that because the digitalpoint forum is well huge, you will find so many designers with so many tastes. You will find low-quality and high-quality designs at varying prices. Maybe if you put your design need up to a contest, this will attract professionals to compete on your request, probably to get the best design at best value? ~ Just an idea.

You can simply reject any design offer you do not like. As simple as that too.

Yeah, I know I can reject them, but after you've reject 100 designers you get kind of tired of looking.

Why would any good designer submit his work to a contest when he can just get guaranteed payed work since theres a need in the market for payed work (and not muhamed from India) ?

That is true too. They would not be looking out for contests. Confusing! :)

So there is something wrong with people in the U.K?
They are just as good, maybe not as abundant in designers but still.

There are professional designers here at DP, you just got to know who to look for... My recent project was Adobe Open Source Template.

I've been browsing through the designs right from the minute I joined this forum today. And I came across only half a dozen good ones. The most prominent of them all was a member with the username 8everything. His/her designs were extremely good and his/her reps spoke much about his/her reputation.

I've worked with a few here, some are pretty good. It's where I got my penguin from . Try putting up contests, that usually attracts a lot of good designers that show off their work.

Also try looking for sites made for artists, or template sites - then check out the authors and contact them.

Not trying to be mean, but I think you're using DP incorrectly.

If you're looking for a designer, go to the BST forum and look at who's posting samples of their work, or search for the topic you're interested in.

Then PM those people whose work you find interesting. If you do not want to reject 100 people as you say, you should really be using something like get-a-freelancer instead.

I have a question for You - What do You mean by "good designer" ? :) Do I apply? (i'd like to hear honest review :) )
Also, contest haev one flaw - if there's 10 people in contest, then some of designer think that "either i won't win so no good for me"...

I honestly don't know how some people on here make a living from being a "designer" doing $100 designs and things like that. Then again, they probably aren't putting nearly as much work/effort into their stuff as some of us do.

I'm sure there are good designers somewhere... (I'm a good one :p) you just need to find the right person. But as you said, the quality really sucks nowadays, because some people try to get quick and easy money.

Well, is kind of annoying when you got this kind of spamming message in your PM...

To be honest, they only want to sell off their talents, but sometimes they didn't even think, whether they meet the min. requirement of the job advertisers.

You get what you pay for.

Plain and simple. Professionals do not work at undervalued rates.

Some guy charging 10 bucks for crap work is probably not even working at all and just scours the net for some bs to pawn off to the unsuspecting buyer.

Buyer beware whenever dealing with forum based sales.

iTrader or not it is still a high risk.

pay a pro or company that is willing to draw up a contract and communicate to meet your wants and needs.
