I think Microsoft will eventually get its dirty little hands on Yahoo!

We will see no signifigant differences to Yahoo straight away, but after a year Micro$oft will slowly dismantle and remove Yahoo from the scene altogether.....

And then there will be 2. But Microsoft will never beat Google and I honestly cant see anyone else coming in and taking the crown away from Google.

Microsoft will get Yahoo... one way or the other.
Like I said, they did it with netscape but ended up getting sued.

If they did I can see MS opening a publishers service and more robust advertisers services to compete more directly with G not being that far off.

    This would be nice.

This is an extremely bold move by microsoft, but it is one that Yahoo cannot play down. They have no chance. No other companies want to compete with microsoft for Yahoo ownership and with their new advertising software that just launched Microsoft will have a nice company soon.

Microsoft Corporation's CEO, Steve Ballmer, ended his letter to Yahoo! with "We think it is critically important not to let this window of opportunity pass." That window of opportunity closes this Saturday, April 26. If this does go on to a hostile takeover and Microsoft ultimately wins, who knows how if will effect the end user? Will there still be Yahoo email? Will Microsoft honor the paid Yahoo! directory listings?

I think Yahoo will stay independent for now but sooner or later they will be acquired by Microsoft.

Yes I agree, Google is unbeatable, they have set up an excellent and proven business model, which the others can only copy. On the other hand Microsoft has a very strong position in the software field.
