How to get shown on the first page of Google search?

I thought I made a post about this like an hour ago, but I can't find it, so maybe I forgot to submit it.
I've had my site up since the 13th, and I still can't find it on Google search. I have the link on several other popular websites, and I submitted it for indexing. So how do I get it to appear, and how do I get it to appear on the first page?
Also, what is pagerank, and how do you get a high one?

    Thanks
    The website is http://www.fpsgaming.us

You need to give it more time and create more backlinks. There are 0 backlinks indexed for the site. Just be patient.

Honestly I would forget the term pagerank and never worry about it again if you are just starting off with websites (which it sounds like you are). Common mistake for people just starting off is to concentrate on pagerank which is not the way to go.

You could start by doing a google to answer a few questions before coming back and getting down to specifics, if you cannot be bothered to do a little bit of light research then it is perhaps a bit much to ask people to do it on your behalf.

Keep working and focusing on your website... once you're done and you've done a lot of work, it will pay off... you'll start noticing a bit more hits.

Then, after you think you've worked hard and long enough; time to show the world, so start submitting to link directories, search engines, etc. and if you have the cash... mabye start paying for adsense etc.

Everyone has to start somewhere. What worries me is that knowbody really has a bible type guide to get on top of this. I heard the other day that the best way to get your 'page rank' is to get more click through. And the best surefire way of that is to post yout link into your status update on facebook. But is this true. Or is it just another one of those pointless exercises.

Don't know really. What I can say for sure is that I got listed in Google fairly quickly(5 days!!!). Was that to do with the sudden interest in my site? Is google's algorith that clever that it will crawl a supposed popular site because it is getting so much traffic? I thought the only way to get listed that quick was to pay for it but I got there without paying for a single thing. But that was just lucky I guess.:)

Had a look at my webstats and sure enough every time I have posted my link on Facebook I have had a surge of visits. But then it drops to 1 or 2 visits. Grrrr I just want to be able to have the clickthrough and someone to contact me as a client. So what is the point really of putting that link into facebook. Are your Facebook friends your target clients. No probably not. So i tried something else. I have a wordpress blog too (http://desperatelyseekingit.wordpress.com). Connected to my website (http://www.designtechie.co.uk). So I thought I would post a bit to twitter. My wordpress blog has my twitter feed on it. Again I am not getting the exposure I want. Grrrr  - getting more and more frustrated. It's starting to make less sense. All those old SEO articles and gumf we read. None of it really working. Finding what we need to get our websites working for us???

So what is the best way to raise a new website profile??? It is probably just one of those things... Is there really an answer?
