My 2 Colleges and I have to much to do to really
work on our music website as much as we want
to or would be needed to utilize the full potential.

Even though the site is running nicely on its own
we are considering to sell the whole project.

HipHop-Battles.com is an international Hip-Hop
audio and graffiti graphics competition platform
for Hip-Hop artists from around the world.
HipHop-Battles.com allows users to try out their
beatbox, rap or graffiti skills with other users
on a unique online competition platform. Two
artists enter a competition or »battle« and the
whole community decides through voting who
they think is best. The ranking system encourages
members to constantly engage in competitions.

We currently host over 25,000 MP3s and graphics
that are all available for free download. The
constantly expanding repertoire is attracting a
steadily increasing amount of visitors. The beats
are exclusively produced for HipHop-Battles.com
which only allows self-produced audio and graphic
files. For every single file we host, we hold the
unreserved rights to reproduce and publish it unlimited.
These rights will also be fully transfered to the buyer.

HipHop-Battles.com was founded November 2003
and is getting more popular every day. The project
is based on self created and highly professional
programmed battle software. The project also includes
a vBulletin Community Forum which is used for socializing
between our members and talk about battles. The
vBulletin License is NOT included but the Design and
Database of our Forum IS included in the sale.

He wanted 800USD for it.

Since then we are sending him traffic via misspells and
now he wants over 8000USD for it

I was a poor student and the site was just a nice idea which started as hobby.
I had no money or it was not worth it for me at that time.

It is still a multi million dollar industry and the we offer free music
which makes our website very interesting.

I think the most interesting part of our website is the full right to
reproduce and publish any music that was released on our website.

There is big potential

 

How much revenue does the site generate now?.

 

Currently due to the lag of us working on the site for over 6 month now
and several server downtimes of multiple days:

Adsense ~50USD

Normal Adsense income was around 90-150USD the past several years
+ direct sells of ad space

But Hiphop is not a niche for adsense monetization
it is a very low paying niche (around 5-15cents per click)

How do you warrant the asking price for a site making $50 on adsense - even 12000 uniques is low?

Can you explain to me how I will make my laughable $34500 back with profit?

Sell of music
monetizing concepts for site usage (e.g. restrict number of uploads for non paying members, etc)

there are multiple possibilities for monetizing a site like this

Hiphop-battles.com is not a site that is "install and relax" like text content sites.
It needs work, maintenance and further developement.

But the potential is extremely high.
For whom ever is buying this site I can deliver multiple ideas for further development

The asking price is this high because of:

- the long development process and thousands of hours spent for the highly professionally build software
- the mass of content and the licenses that come with it

If you just look for an investment to spend money on and then watch the income flow,
hiphop-battles.com is not what you are looking for

The number of visitors is that low because no marketing/promotion what so ever was done for over a year now.
Still without any work the user numbers are consistent because of the great content and unique value the site has.
Apply proper marketing and promotion and the site will skyrocket.
