What If Publishers Set The Minimum Click Price?

Serious. Everyone is tired of giving away valuable ad space to some lame .02 cent a click ads. What if a publisher could set the minimum price per click for a ad to be displayed on the site? Seems like a damn good idea in my opinion. Every other media sets a price and doesn't have it dictated to them, newspapers, tv, etc. What about web publishers? If you ask me we are getting shafted by Google's business model.

Well in our eyes, it would be ideal...until you implemented it.

I see it going down like this realistically:

We all set our min at (say) $1.00/click
Tons of MFA sites will get a few clicks until advertisers figure out what's going on and then only advertise on google itself.

Companies set their ball park pricing based on their alloted budget for their depts... and it would be abused.

I am sure however, large and TRUSTED sites already have this..or a similar option.

Would wreck it for advertisers, IMO. Wouldn't be bad for publishers but people with smaller websites advertising on Adwords who aren't selling something would kind of be screwed.

It would be a great way to have a natural market place. If you set it too high, you won't get any ads, so you'll have to reduce it anyway. But at least you would have control over it and would be able to decide how much you're willing to lose a visitor over.

The situation is pathetic for the small publishers who cannot assert their rights. Because of a paltry amount set by the adwords people, we get returns from the CPC as high as $ 0.01 :(

then lot of people would set the minimum price so high that no google ad will be displayed on any sites.

Then publishers not getting any ads would have to lower their prices wouldn't they. That's how free markets works, such as the stock market.

It might turn out to be better than the current situation BUT I believe there will be a lot of complications in implementing this and I don't think Google will implement it as they're already making nice money with their current business model.

It will be good for publishers, but advertisers will be badly effected.

Won't be good for both advertisers and publishers. Google tries to give you the best ads in your niche. But if your content doesn't good but you want 1$ per click then you will be cheating the advertiser. As an advertiser and puıblisher i don't support this
