Text and Images or just Images?

Ever since Images became available, I've used them.. I was thinking today though, perhaps my ctr -or- the amount cpc would go up for me if I just had text ads, no images.

Anyone else try this experiment yet??? What kind of results did you get?

 

All I know that texts have higher CPC compared to images.

 

If you using text and images, it show up text or images by random.
i used to use text ads

 

I prefer text links when possible. In text links you get more ads compared to one in image ads.

 

Text pays a lot more than images in most cases. But in Image host's etc choose image

 

Image ads are mainly CPM based where Text Ads are CPC based..
I'd suggest you to go with Text Ads if you get a lot of clicks.

 

OK, so the resounding majority here think/say text pays better (I've had text/image and make an avg of about $5/day)... be interesting to see what the ctr goes to as well as the CPC pays off with only text.

I use both and it works good

 

when an image ad is shown when you use text/image,image ads will pay more then just image ads.
the image ad has to out bid the text ads.

that is just not true.
this is from an all image ad.

 

Text will show more ad than image (1 ad for image ad)

 

i use text ads only. it get me higher CTR than image ads

 

If your site is content based then go with text ads and if you're in the entertainment niche then image ads might perform better than the text ads.

 

Only text ads is better, many webmasters agree that.

 

If you have more than one ad unit of the page, make the first unit as Text only while one of the remaining unit as an image only (CPM based).

I have long used this approach on my blog and it works out pretty decent.

 

Text ads get better CTR generally I believe.

 

OK well this is one of my pages:
Fore Mustang KR Knight Rider (as an example, text is for SEO since this will be indexed)

It is currently changed to all text ads, generally though, the 2nd or 3rd would be an image ad and my ctr is between .01-10% + or - 8% (max of 5%ish min of .70%ish, sorry for the broad terms but G's tos dictate as such. Nazi's.)

I am looking to "cure" that to 3-5% ctr -or- in other words to $10-$15 per day (again, site gets about 500-1000 uniques per day from the G).

Stats do not include Referral stats as they are in test mode at this time.

 

I only choose text ads as images ads don't work for me.

 

Just an update (for those seeing this thread in the future), ctr has doubled.

 

I go for both, for variety, the images jump out at visitors sometimes i imagine, grabs attention.

 

For images to get always more money than text ads.
