I'm sure this has a easy anwser but I can't seem to any infomation that makes this clear enough for me to understand.

I'm working for a recruitment company and I'm considering buying a bunch of domains like www.[JOBTITLE]jobs.co.uk and have them pointing at the homepage ( or their dept's subsection of the site ).

Would the sites organic rankings benifit from this or will I be frowned upon/banned from google.

    Thank you,

    Paul

    Say I point itjobs.com, internetjobs.com and greatjobs.com at www.stupidrubbishjobs.com.

Will this help my rankings for "internet jobs" , "great jobs" and "it jobs" or will google banned itjobs, internetjobs.com and greatjobs.com?

301 redirect wouldn't do the site any harm.

This is useless and would only be good for direct type-in traffic. How would you market a domain with no content that just 301 redirects to another? This method will have no SEO value, however if the domain gets direct\type-in traffic you'll gain some benefits from that.

I would also support ssandecki, it would be better if you can make all those sites to reach to the first position of the SERP for those keywords and then post a good link to your main site on all those sites. Also make a network of all those sites.

I agree with you on this...better if you use all of the domains

If the domains you are going to redirect are already well-established and are quite old and have some links that would add SEO value. But if they are new, no SEO value at all

Thanks for your advice. I don't think it's really worth me wasting budget on them as they are new domains.

What I would do personally if I had these domains is not use a 301 redirect. Rather I would develop each website with a targeted keyword and try to rank them well. Then since they are related (assuming you use different hosting for each) is link them together in a 3-way link fashion to pass pagerank between the pages and build quality backlinks.
