As much as American libtards complain, I doubt that many of them would trade places with the average Indian.

India's economy looks to be heading in the right direction though. In a decade or two, who knows? :)

Heck, India jumped 12 points in just one year in the Doing Business Index.

It depends, if I am paid what I am paid now but living in India, I certainly won't mind :) . Though you need to be ready for the spicy food and the extremely sweet desserts, mind you goat's butter in sugar! That was really some acquired taste. When I first tasted it, I nearly fainted but you still need to swallow it with a smile as it was given to VIPs only.......
not forgetting the gold foil, you are actually eating metal.

Heck if one retires with social security and moves to a non communist country where they can reciever their SS checks they most likely will live like kings and queens. Most social checks are about $600 to $1200 plus. Could you only imagine the life if would would do that living in India or Italy. So work in the US and retire to a non communist country and everything will work out fine.........Well Maybe.

There are plenty of nice retirement communities for Americans in Mexico and Honduras.

Kind of sucks when your retirement income is not enough to live in the country you were born in and you have to move to another country to make ends meet.

I'm sure there is nice beachfront property in coutries all over the world were money goes further, but what if you just want to retire in the same place you lived your entire life?

Not really sucks, I know of one American friend who moved to Thailand, he had a time of his life there and lived like a king whereas if he is to retire in USA, he would be scrimping for every penny.

Not every american has dreams of moving to Thailand. Many are more than happy where they are and would like to stay there.

The kind of logic that says social security is fine because you can retire on social security if you move to another country is the same sort of logic the US goverment uses to say inflation is low because people can just move from buying steak to buying hamburger.

You know what? I don't want to retire in Thailand and I don't want to trade steaks for hamburger. I would much prefer the not so federal "federal reserve" to stop printing to much damn money and devaluing all my dollars. :)

The costs of living in USA and most developed world cities are kinda high, of course everyone wants to be at "home" but not everyone can afford to.

So people that retire in the US on social security should have to move to a foreign country?

This is a matter of individual preferences, something I can't comment on.

If they are looking for that kind of lifestyle.

Plenty of people move to Florida or stay where they are.

Why do you think that a government retirement benefit should entitle you to live on a champagne budget?

In no way do I think there is some champagne budget entitled. I don't think the social security administration is sustainable. However, the US government did promise to people that if they paid into the system they would be taken care of in retirement. If your grandparent or anyones grandparent retires in the US, they should recieve from the government enough mony to live their remaining days in the same town they lived in when they paid taxes to the government. By no means should they live like kings off the government but by no means should they have to move to a foreign country to make ends meet.

I don't expect social security to be there for me, but it should be their now for those who have been promised it by the government.

The people moving to a foreign country are on average living a more upscale lifestyle with a maid, cook and gardener.

So what is next? Americans shouldn't have to go abroard to get a cheap vacation and the government should subsidize them with lower cost hotels and bar drinks.

"600$ - 1200$ a month to live in italy with the value of the dollar the way it is? Good luck with that." Really average income nowadays in Ukraine. In Russia absolutely nothing.

property taxes? its nt a concern here in india. it depends on built non built up area. unlike america where th property sizes are huge, here average residential plots/sites measures 30*40 sqft, 60*40 sqft. tax is also paid whn a plot is first bought thtz usually huge say close to 20% to 30% of the property cost.

but th recurring annual tax is vry low b/w $200 to $300 for a built up site. & for a vacant plot its around $75. again it all depends on the location & th dimension of th property. currently bangalore is the second costliest real estate in india. a standard 60*40 (2400 sqft) plot costs half a million dollars.

in India poperty is a one time investment since not much of a maintenance or taxes ther after.
