I haven't been banned, but I ran across what someone else posted on here. His email from Google stated this: Now. They guy denied he did anything wrong. Whether he did or not is beside my point. My point is this: Why doesn't Google do more to protect its legitimate publishers?
Google protects both the advertisers and the publishers by banning invalid clicks publishers. Take for eg invalid clicks results in dilution of actual click results and profits for advertisers which in turns lower down the price per click for publishers. By such banning, Google ensures both publishers and advertisers are protected.
How do you propose that Google distinguish between legitimate publishers and non-legitimate publishers when fraudulent clicks are being perpetrated against the site? It might be the site owner clicking his own ads --- or it might be his friends clicking his ads -- or he might be encouraging his visitors to click ads ?????????? Google will ALWAYS protect it's advertisers. They are the ones paying the money. You and I are just collecting money -- money paid by advertisers.
I know, but to me it just seems like an arbitrary decision is all. Like guilty until proven innocent.
They have their own algorithms for checking and I would guess they would try to be as accurate as they can. If a publisher earn $1, Adsense earns much more than that. So definitely they won't want to cut off the publishers unless they have reasonable evidence because the more they cut off the more revenue they lose.
Yeah I'm sure. I guess I hear about people getting banned for no reason and it makes me nervous is all. Especially when I am trying to turn adsense into my full time income.
That would be risky I suggest exploring not just adsense but adbrite etc, never put all your eggs in one basket. Who knows a jealous competitor may fraud click you out of action and there goes your livelihood....
You see that is my very point! It shouldn't be so risky. Its almost like you have to walk on glass for fear of it. Is there no way to protect yourself?
Even if there are ways I would suggest a few more advertising programs so that you do not lose out should anything happen to Adsense or should they change their policies.
in an attempt to protect google's own interest, its advertisers' interest, interest of publishers and sharehosders, google makes some decisions to ban certain publisher accounts. but i have to say that some decisions are not fair. google has very sophisticated technology which google relies on to make such decision and since no technology is ever going to be perfect, they end up making some wrong decisions from time to time based on their fraud detection technology. i don't have any problem with that, but what i expect is a little better support from HUMAN support stuff (not typical cut/paste answer from brainless robots). when a publisher appeals by saying they didn't do anything wrong, google needs to pay personalized attention to those appeals on a case by case basis. recently we are seeing some banned decisions being overturned based on appeal which was deemed impossible before, but it needs to improve.
Mostly Publisher face the problem of this type, does Google returns the money of the genuine click too? I don't think so, IMO they only returns the money to the advertiser who got invalid click but block all the amount of the publisher.
This is why I am advising take Adsense but do take another alternative for eg Adbrite etc so that you can fall back on in case you are banned.
wisdomtool is giving some very good advice here. There are many other ways out there to monetize websites. AdSense happens to be the most common as it has pretty much become a household name at this point, but as with any business, you never want to depend solely on one revenue stream. AdSense is a very good program overall, but I would never want to rely strictly on them. Check out adbrite or other advertising systems. You may also want to look into affiliate marketing by using things like ebay, commission junction, shareasale.com, amazon etc.
This is pretty obvious isn't it? They're protecting their advertiser's wallets by stopping invalid clicks
Without advertisers Adsense would be nothing. I think they're just closing down the accounts of low quality sites that are made for Adsense. A webmaster's main focus shouldn't be how to earn money by placing ads but to make sure the traffic they drive to ads is quality traffic and not traffic that comes from accidental clicks because the ads are all over the place. Not sure if that's how Google sees it too but it seems the most logical way to me I know I'd be pissed if I had to pay for low quality clicks. That's probably one of the main reasons why I don't use Adwords that often..
Although i agree they should look after publishers, myself being one, its of course important that the advertisers are satisfied and looked after, and beyond that the shareholders, they have to look after the company as a whole to keep its strength. We have to respect that as publishers.
