Copying from my blogs!!!

Discussion in 'Legal Issues' started by sam07, Apr 3, 2008.

Due to some specific reasons one of my blog got de-indexed completly in google search engine, and now i have seen a lot of people who copy completly my blog posts, and publish them on their own blogs,
My blog has more then 300 posts, and i don't know how to over come this issue.
I am looking for any better solution of this problem.
Let me tell you that i have contacted those bloggers, and asked them to remove my posts but they just reply, NO Never, because your blog is de-indexed, and you can't do anything.
Can some one suggest me any possible solution of it.

You should be able to find things in archive.org at least for your older posts. So that's some proof that you posted some of it first. Contact Google to have these other sites de-indexed (they'll de-index the stolen pages - it's not a quick process, but I've never had them say no if you have proof - combination of cached pages, post dates, whois records for the domain, etc.). If they're running Adsense on the site with stolen content, also contact Adsense directly - you can have their account banned for all of their sites if they're caught infringing on someone's copyright. I've had a lot of luck with that with content theives, and that's often quicker than de-indexing - I recommend both though. You can also contact private advertisers - hit them financially and with their rankings, and they're MUCH more likely to comply. You have to hit them where it hurts.

Then of course send a formal cease and desist (but not until after Google's had a chance to see everything - they won't act if the content's already removed), and contact a lawyer.

How to contact google, any convenient way to reach them.
I have checked through their site but couldn't fine any way of contact.
Secondly they are not having adsense on those blogs.
I will go for Google de-indexing first, so if please you can put me the way to contact google for this issue. Thanks

No script can really stop your content from being copied. At most you can disable right-click, but that will just piss off a lot of your regular readers (personally, if I visit a site with right-click disabled, I leave right away). Anyone who can see the text can copy it by simply re-typing it, or hiring someone else to. And if you offer an RSS feed, it's very possible they're getting it that way.

This happens all the time, scraping other sites for content is widespread on the net, there is not much you can do about it, you could try contact Google but i doubt if it will help.

It definitely helps. If you can show the content is yours, they're very effective at de-indexing that content. Just be sure to be specific - you'll need to give them links to specific content that was stolen (not just a general link to the site).

jhmattern is right. No script can every protect your content completely. What others have done is hire people from third world countries to retype your articles. Send a DMCA letter to the host and also notifying Google to deindex a site may help but the former is the best way for results.

Your dmca complaint to Google (the link I gave you earlier) is for de-indexing. You'll need to file a separate dmca complaint with the site's host to have the content forcefully removed from the server if they won't remove it themselves. I suggest you go to Google first. It will get the de-indexing done faster than waiting for the site to be removed (and if it's removed before Google sees it, they won't take immediate action.. you'll have to wait for it to naturally be removed when crawling shows the pages no longer exist).

IT IS NOT AS SIMPLE ALSO WITH GOOGLE.

    You will have to :

    1.Fax them.
2.Sign on agreement which says if your information is false then you will have to pay for damages.

Obviously no big deal faxing and signing an agreement if you are 100% sure but make sure it is ALL your content.

Simpler with Yahoo and MSN where you just have to show proof to them.

Here is the code/script you need to paste on your web page to disable highlighting and right clicking. But note that this will not stop everybody from getting your content. There are some ways to go around this code. But at least it'll not be that easy for them to copy your content.

Are you sure you really want to implement code that's going to just annoy legitimate users? Do you realize how easy it is to get around that? All you have to do in Firefox for example is click View, then click Page Source, then find the article text and copy/paste there (your code won't stop them from right-clicking on that screen).

Contact the owners of these Copiers, you should be firm and tell them to remove it.

The best step for you to do before take any action that will "waste your time" is email and inform the "person who stole your content". Do email them 3 times and if possible, warning them by using their comment box. Screenshot it and if still no respons from them, then you can proceed to sue them.

    That's all.
