How can i start my own "Windows hosting Server" at my home? like yahoo has his own google has his own server
If you want to host for your personal sites, you will need a modem / router to allow you NAT public IP to your private IP. However, if you want to do business with *home server*, I would suggest to stay away. It's your home, not a datacenter, unless you spend million dollars into it, and want to live there
if i want to start site like yahoo.com then what is the easy way for hosting ? hire a server from hosting company or start my own home made server? and which hosting company provide best and chip service? and is should be a dedicated server?
go for dedicated server managed or unmanaged but running server at home is difficult and wastage of money u need lot of $
Ok...Just I am curious, why do you need a server like Yahoo. Do you want to host your some simple websites...? Could you plz update what is ur requirement ?
i want to start portal like www . naukri . com ,TimesJobs . com ,www . monsterindia . com so this is my requirement. now tell me what can i do?
You can also download a free Windows 2008 Server Trial for 240 days, which is great, then you can learn how to configure IIS 7. Then, for hosting (if you want to host some website thru an automated system), you can use DotNetPanel. But for simple/home hosting, you can stick just with IIS 7.
you'll host websites at your home? that's crazy. even if you'll go for a T1 line, still that wouldn't be enough if at least 1% of the internet users will visit your site simultaneously.
Miss Surekha... Its a bad idea to host server at home...Rather buy an unlimited plan from any of windows hosting webservices.... and host ur site on it.... u need not tek any tensions of the net connectivity... light faliure etc... and to tell u i have something that u will need will pm it to u....
It is much easier to hire a dedicated server to yourself. This is what you have to have for your "home server": -Power -Fast internet Connection -Cost of Server ($XXXX) -Cost of Software (unsure but probably $XXXX) -Security -etc etc In other words, you are giving yourself a lot of unnecessary work that you don't need to be doing.
Heres a really good article on how to start your own home server: http://www.webmasterworld.com/forum48/2117.htm
