Obama has a lot of interesting freinds. Or should I say, he associates with many persons of interest.

One of Obama's leading leading campaign donors, Antoin “Tony” Rezko, a Syrian-born property developer in Chicago, is accused of extortion.

What's wrong with being a muslim or the president of the United States being a muslim. That's two different questions.

If the president of the united states can't be a muslim then it is not a free country.

In a compendium of doozies by Bogart, this is one of the best. Well, the best has to be:

    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?p=7144208

    But this is close.

No, they aren't two different things. The same kind of bald prejudice being justified here by Bogart, Mia, and company has been used throughout our history on too many occasions to declare what is "American" and what "not." During WWII, it was Americans of Japanese descent imprisoned because of their ethnicity, and apparently now it is Muslims, generally. Inexcusable.

Here - for starters - how about the words of one Founder, John Adams, specifically addressing Christianity, Islam, with respect to the United States and its principles:

(Treaty of Peace and Friendship with Tripoli": (Article 11)); reprinted from a thread on the separation of Church and State. Please see Uited States - Church and State "Wall of Separation" for discussion.

Wisdom, no. But respectfully, this is irrelevant. As Lightless said, we are discussing the Presidency of the United States. "Fair-weather" Americanism is not what the country was founded on. As I once wrote:

Earl, just came across your post - thanks for the info, and for your analysis of Dr. Rice's comments.

    Now, I do wonder how:

    and

Exists in the same universe as:

    and

Is Dr. Rice also now an America hatin'/Islamist Terrorist/Black Nationalist/Communist/Traitor plant? And does this mean Mia won't be voting for her in '08 any longer?:D

Sounds like what you are describing is the way muslims are treated when they convert to christianity. In many muslim countries people face the death penalty for converting to christianity.

For your information, muslims are not a race or ethnic group.

Muslims have given themselves a bad name due to their extremisim and intolerance.

The difference here is Dr. Rice did not abuse TV time to give a diversionary speech designed specifically to draw attention away from his association with a hate monger.

It won't be long before everyone recognizes the truth.... ;)

Dr. Rice is a legitimate African-American. Obama needs do abuse the system the way he does; because, he is not who he claims to be.

    Bingo...

Other problems with Obama include his earmark/pork spending problems. Compare him and Hillary to McCain who has NEVER EVER taken money from the federal budget for his state of Arizona.

Obama is just another tax and spend liberal.

Also, to be politically correct. Obama is "biracial", not African or Black.

Why that even makes a difference is beyond me at this point. For some reason however ,the media has fallen in love with this concept of Race before Gender.

When it comes down to it, when you look at the candidates and you leave Gender, Race and Religion out of it. Obama comes in dead last in almost every category when it comes to fiscal responsibility, experience, foreign policy, war, peace, and domestic issues.

20 years from now, who knows. Things might be different. Too bad Obama has no practical experience in the private sector, else he might be worth a second look.

Unfortunately Obama is nothing more than a media golden child propped up on a pedestal. Can do no wrong, yet no one knows about anything he has done right.

As things move along, if Obama gets the nomination, my guess is the media will finally begin looking into who the real Obama really is. Once others see what I've have seen, minds will not only change, but many will likely even switch parties and rethink their entire lives as a result.

I honestly wonder how much racism has to do with the backlash against Obama.

Everyone in this thread who dreads the idea of a black President, raise your hand.

    Uh, yeah.

We are in the United States of America.

Your irrational prejudices aren't limited to racism, obviously.

There are 1.6 billion Muslims on the planet. Of those, show of hands, how many are Al-Qaeda, or Al-Qaedesque, in outlook or deed?

I'll need to go to Altafish for translation, as I only speak English. (Well, French, spanish, some German, Japanese, Estonian - but you get the picture).

But somewhere in there is a big "whaaaaa?," since Dr. Rice's words were in so many ways remarkably similar in sentiment to the words of Obama, which is the subject of this thread. And looks like a coupla' fellas got caught with their pants down on this one.:D

Guess someone got caught with the obvious problem of loving Dr. Rice, whose words with respect to race in America very much align with Obama's, while condemning Obama on the same issue. Ooops! Better jump ship and go to something else, fellas, as usual. Mayday!:D

Mia has seen something, he knows something...

-He just can't quite seem to, you know, uh, present it. A gentle reminder:

Dr. Rice is a legitimate African-American as opossed to Obama. Obama needs to abuse the system with phony 'state of the race' addresses; because, he's not who he claims to be.

Sorry for the invonvience. I'm kind of in a rush. With all your education I'm sure you could have figured it out.

I only speak English, Spanish, German and some Catalan. I'm not claimimg to be an intellectual. I'm the guy in the street in New York. John Q. Public. That's why we have different viewpoints. :)

The US has black Governors, Supreme Court Justices, Secretaries of State and Colin Powell was even the Secretary of State and Commander of the Joint Chief of Staff.

Obama is using race as a smokescreen.

Thanks for clearing it up. I'm a guy who came from and lived on the streets who isn't now ashamed of his intellect, or what he's done with it, so perhaps this is why we indeed have different viewpoints.

Man, I'd love that kind of power. To judge Muslims as non-American, certain people as "legitimate" African-Americans, etc. Must be a heady feeling, an Olympus of one's mind.:D

I'll buy that he might be playing the race card at times, but you're vehement opposition to him, after not really getting into the horseraces earlier, leads me to believe there is something about him that really bothers you.

His policies are not that unique.

His integrity is no worse than anyone elses.

His speeches are just as vacuous and sad as the others.

    So we've got

    1) He's brown
    2) You are adamant that he is a Muslim but use his membership in a Christian congregation against him
    3) He's against genocide of Muslims
    4) He's inexperienced

Being honest with yourself, is the answer in one of those 4 reasons?

You see, I dislike him for everything else. The stuff where he is just a cowardly politician like the others, a parasite on the citizenry.

But you are pretty worked up, and trying to read between the lines, I'm coming up with either 1, 2 or 3 as the real reasons for your anti-Obama passion.

I think you are confused. No one said this.

No, but he can be a fucktard.

    Probably none.

I don't. I just dread the idea of Obama. For the record, Obama is NOT black. What's your point?

Again, you fail to see the point. Obama used race as a diversion. Rice did not.

As have many others who are not blind sheep following the medias every move.

Actually, I have on several occasions.

    Some of Obamas finer points:

No experience in running a business
No experience in running a war
No experience in balancing a budget
    No experience in foreign affairs
    No experience in domestic affairs
No practical real world experience at all
Ties to several controversial figures, from crooks, extortionists and racist hate mongers
    No plan

If I sat around and watched the media all day long, I too might fall prey to the false hope that Obama is some kind of God. The reality is, he has no practical experience, no plan of action, and no real explanation for anything he does, says, or is associated with.

He's also a liar. His entire political stance at the moment has been, 100 years in Iraq. A misconstrued, abused and over used falsehood that Obama has beat to death in a continued effort to divert attention from his own shortcomings.

Just because you have a hard on for Obama and I do not does not mean I have not actually researched this guys credentials. I've know about him long before he took the stage at the Nation Convention.

Again, in time things will come out. Some of the real shit to hit the fan first is gonna be his wife, her hospital, and how she went from pennies to over a 1/4 of million dollar a year salary after Obama got into the State Senate in Illinois... There's a lot you and I do not know about Obama, and his wife, and the corruption that abounds.

Give it time... You and others will be thanking me for brining it to your attention before you make the wrong choice.

When it comes down to it, Obama is not the right man for the Job. His muslim ties, religion, whiteness, fact that he smokes cigarettes while touting health care crap aside, he just does not have the experience to the run the country.
