Okay now that I understand the concept and importance of anchor text. Can someone please tell me if the case of characters used in the anchor text matter?

So is "flowers" the same as "FLOWERS" in the eyes of the search engines?

    Thank You

Don't use all caps. Just use normal text, capitalizing the first letter of each word.

While anchor text is important for search engines, it is also important to not annoy the person reading it.

The case of the text won't matter one iota. Just use what's best for your readers instead - and not the search engines.

People constantly get too caught up on what's best for the search engines and end up making sites that are optimized for them, then wonder why their sites aren't doing what they're supposed to do.

Believe it or not, yes. The search engines are just a tool used by people to find what we're offering them.

Why would it be considered spam if it was in uppercase; that is a silly assumption.

And if people find that text to be hard to read, they'll leave the site forever - meaning all your SEO efforts will have been for nothing.

Remember, SEO is only one half of the battle - the other half is to convert the traffic into loyal readers/customers/fans/ whatever it is the site is supposed to do.

They are almost the same. but using upper case letters as a keyword depends on the type of keyword you are targeting.
For example, SEO or any other acronym, most of the visitors will search capitalize SEO rather than seo. My advice to you is to capitalize just the first letter of the word not the whole word. but as i have said, it depends.
