Looking for site owners who have run, or would like to run, contests to promote their website. For those who have, what have been your results? How difficult was it? Would you do it again? What would you do differently? What would make it easier?
Too many people doing it. Unless you offer some unique prize or good money useless. Tried twice; I am not too happy with the return.
I am running one now a straight cash prize for subscribing to my rss. Early results are dissapointing but I have all of April to turn it around
I'm thinking of using one on my new blog but now I'm thinking of backing off for now because I don't have readers yet to my site. Maybe after two months!
You have to have good prizes. Money talks so thats always a good option. I don't like it when people come up with cheezy prizes like web hosting for a year or something like that. If you are going to do a contest, make it be a true investment.
Agreed. If you want to do contests, do it FOR your visitors and dont think of your own benefits or possible raise in income. If you do a good contest, it should come from your heart to give something back to your visitors. People ain't stupid, they realize if a contest is being held just for the benefit of the site owner (Its not 1999 anymore). A good, well hearted promo/contest will automatically increase your "fellowship" and may result in an increase in returning visitors.
I am planning to start a contest and I have already collected some cool prizes.. gathering few more prizes and once the collection is great then I will start the contest. anyone interested? http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=781309
