In an unbelievable decision Microsoft decided to stop shipping Vista. That makes the end of an OS which was hardly liked by anyone. The reasons for this move are still behind the scene. Meanwhile in another shocking decision, Microsoft decided to prolong support for Windows XP. I think they realize that the popularity of Windows XP is far beyond Vista. In many reviews around the world there have been negative comments about this OS. It’s hardware requirements are too high and that makes upgrading from XP a costly move CODE http://atm.bizhat.com/bb/2008/04/01/microsoft-stops-shipping-vista/
Dude, this sounds like an April fools prank! Vista is really kicking *** on new machines, especially if you have the SP1 installed! They won't stop shipping it or else they will lose customers that posses high end hardware.
Well after cracking open the bottle of champagne that i keep chilled for exactly this scenario i realised that this was unlikely to be true and was in fact an april fools joke. It was one of the days better ones though.
Oh, if only it were true. When Vista was going to come with WinFS and do away with the stupid registry, I was excited. As it turned out, Vista is nothing more than Xp Service Pack 4. Some things like Defender are integrated, and it's prettier. That's about it... oh, well it's more secure out of the box with UAC, but an XP SP2 machine is just as secure with AVG free and Defender installed. I mean, if you click on a link in your email that says imnotavirus.exe, you're probably going to get infected no matter which version of Windows you're using.
I was really excited about this. I was hoping that Microsoft might ship me some XP disks to replace my vista machine, I've got killer specs that would run XP really well, but its a downer to see that this isn't real. Vista really eats up a lot of CPU and I don't see much possibility with having it. Oh well.
