I turned my lights off but i don't really see a point, Its not really going to make a difference nor show people the difference, unless it makes a notice-able difference everyone can see its not going to get the message across.

I admit I was on of those people if it wasn't for google I don't think I would have heard about it (at not until it was over) maybe in the future if the people want to have a bigger success they should do more PR.
I was at an award ceremony during that time so all the power was off at home anyway (not at the award ceremony though). I think it was a success in terms of raising awareness.
I've participated in this EarthHour 60 minutes started from 7:59 pm to 9:12pm... But, seem like most of the peoples around my area doesn't really care about this event at all...
I was really suprised at the lack of participation in my area (right outside San Francisco! You'd think people would be more into it in CA at least). I'd love to see some stats for my hometown although I don't think they exist, at least not yet. I know my family all had our lights off and candles on but I'm not sure it was quite as big as people hoped it would be.
I was at a pub with a live band and they powered through the whole hour. Oh...they had one candle on each loudspeaker
It's a great initiative !!! This is the 3rd year, isn't? In Romania some people --over 1 mill--respected that hour turning off the sources of energy...
Certainly a success so far publicity is concerned.Real success will emerge only when minds of masses will get enlightened.
I am in Japan at the moment, but i flicked of the mains for an hour all the same. My girl is in Brissy, she is super enviro-conscious and was buzzing on the idea, she went up to a look out point to watch the city go dark, but it barely changed! a few large billboards went dark but that was about it! Did it work? In raising awareness yes, in the way it was promoted, not really IMO
Yeah, again, I think in practice it didn't make as huge a difference as people would have hoped, but in raising awareness it did do a good job. It'll be interesting to see if next year it has a bigger following (or if all the ice caps have melted and we don't have any lights to turn on at all )
