Hello! I was wondering how my ads can appear on the top spots directly above the organic search results (not on the very top right). Does it have to do with quality score? How much you pay? Thank you! Ryan
On good keywords I've tried many times to get the #1 position, some people can really afford paying $1-$5 a click ? The good news here is on most keywords's top 3 can get you directly above the organics. I never had any luck with the #1 position, but maybe that'll change soon. But Sometimes the ads stay on the right side of the organics, even if your #1. This I can't explain. Vene
I got it with CTR 4,5-5%, but in my case it was'nt best convertions rate. So try to increase your CTR for the most searched keywords.
I tend to find that positions 2-6 convert better. You get a lot of happy clickers in the number 1 position unless its for a long-tail keyword. Jill
I always start by paying a premium for my max CPC. This usually gets me number one spot for the first part of the campaign, then, because of my high position I usually get a better CTR which gives my keywords a good history, in turn, this gives me more "bidding power" and eventuallly my avg CPC goes down allowing me to keep position one for much less than it would normally cost.
Quality score should be the answer... As far as i know, it does matter about everything including CPC, CTR, LP, KW, and your historical performances.. For the last one, it depends on how long you've survive here on Google world! And anyway, CTR and CPC seem to matter the most. Hope this helps!
Here's Google's explanation... http://adwords.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=72975 It's mainly based on your bid...
