Hello My name is Abigail and I am new to this forum. I am a full-time freelance writer. I have 2 clients that have come to me to write sales pages for them. This is not something I specialize in (my clients know this) and I would like to learn more about methods and formats, etc. Does anyone have any resources, books, websites they would suggest I check out? I've been to a couple of websites I've found interesting and I've ordered a book about sales letters from Amazon. I'm just wondering what other copywriters have liked. Thank you for your time. I look forward to getting to know you! Abigail
Hi, Are you writing these sales letters for print or web? If you're writing for the web, then "Web Copy that Sells" by Maria Veloso is a good instructional book. I refer to it often. "Writing Copy for Dummies" is also a good read that talks about different form of copy writing.
Hi, Oh thank you very much for the book suggestions! I am writing for websites now -- but I have an opportunity to write for a print client. So I appreciate having a place to look at for both. Abigail
Abigail, Also review popular sales pages that pull really good conversions. You'll learn a lot that way. Great copywriters you should review are: Frank Kern John Carlton Clayton Makepeace and there are dozens of others. Also, if the project needs to be completed relatively quickly, I would outsource it to a sales page writer as there are a lot of elements to writing a winning sales page that take time to learn. Feel free to PM me if you'd like me to connect you with some that I know of who are affordable and quite good.
Hi Jaime, Oh thank you for the advice! I appreciate the tips. I think I do have some things to learn -- but I tell you, my clients have been very happy with the sales letters I have done for them. One client ordered 2 from me -- and just LOVED them. I don't have a real "sales-y" style of writing, though I do follow that format. She even asked me to re-write her entire website. So -- so far so good! lol I'll check out the authors. I do have a question...how can I find some sales pages with good conversion rates? How can I tell they have good conversion rates? Abigail
Good question. I'm a copywriter, but my colleague is a copywriter that specializes in sales letters, so she'd know the answer better than I would. I know that she mentioned the number one selling product on Clickbank had a really high conversion rate. So you could figure out what that is and look at their offer page.
How do you know which Clickbank products are the best sellers? You can sort them by a number of things, but nothing that reflects conversions from what I see.
Thank you very much I'll go check out Clickbank and see what ranks really high, maybe like the top 20 products are a good place to start. I appreciate the suggestions.
Take a look at squidoo! The squidoo lenses could make great sales pages IMO. You might also want to visit the Copywriters board, go through the threads there and learn from the pros like Michel Fortin himself.
Try here. There are many sales letter writers here. http://www.copywritersboard.com/ and here http://www.warriorforum.com/forum/default.asp
