Hi, Do you know if i should put meta content the same as meta keyword? Because i see many people doing this. Thanks
Nooooooooooooo, Description should be a short, relevant accurate description of that specific web page. This is the text displayed in search results, as is the title tag.
Precisely. Use the description to write a clear, concise description of what the current page is about. Give yourself some bonus points if you can write that description in such a way that it makes people want to "click that link" to see what else is on the page (which then leads them to do what you want them to do in the first place).
I can't count how many times I tell this to some of my clients, they don't realize getting in search results is half the battle, than you need to convince the searchers to actually choose your listing.
Hi, They completely different thing ! Keywords content is for the search engines Description content is your sale pitch that the serfer will read in the result page.
The description meta element most likely carries some type of SEO value, in fact the keywords meta element has pretty much been phased out by major search engines due to abuse. The main reason we make description meta element relevant to our web page is for the 2 main reasons mentioned earlier in this thread.
If you have any question about meta tags visit this url "http://www.thegermz.com/tutorials/seo/seo-tutorial-part-3" also, you should keep your description short, because the description is what will show up when someone searches for your site in google or any other search engine and you do not want a spammy description.
And regarding your meta keywords i think its best not to repeat any keyword as far as im aware. Also i believe theres no need for a space after each comma, comma only.
Meta keywords doesn't matter anymore. They used to matter back in the 90s. The new thing that matters if you are perfeclty including the seaked by Search Engines content. They call it ContentDNA, its like a perfect table to compare your site content with what the search engines think it should be on a given topic. This is part of the Latent Semantic Optimization (or LSO) model for optimizing.
well as far as i hv read articles and tutorials bout meta tags(keywrd and description), the maximum lenght for description is: 200 and that of keywords is: 500 I think it dsnt matter whether you keep both as same, but still you shud write something descriptive in your description part that describes your site well. As for keywords, you can give the most relevant keywords for which you want your site to be optimised.
Description tag must be short summary of your web page with proper sentence. You can include keywords in description tag.I suggest length of description tag is not more then 250 words.
