Google makes its $$$billions$$$ with Google AddWords so I think they have a system where they give newcomer websites a chance to tastes of success and the potential of getting visitors by ranking them higher then they should be ranked. Once you have the idea and see the big picture they drop your website's ranking and the visitors don't bring you organic business and profit anymore so they lead you to start a Google AddWords campaign and keep Google make MORE $ for their greedy investors.

    "SANDBOX" "PENALTIES" "FILTERS".....

FOLLOW THE MONEY TRAIL! ORGANIC TRAFFIC DOESN'T MAKE GOOGLE ANY MONEY FOR ITS DEMANDING GREEDY INVESTORS BUT ADDWORDS DO!

That's really a new and interesting perspective. If I ever do fall from the rankings, I will consider your perspective.

it is interesting. There's no way to prove it, but who would ever know?

The company where I'm working has been paying $11.50 on average for one keyword. It seems to keep going up, too. We started advertising for it at $7.00 just half a year ago, with a max. bid of $20.00

pay per Clicks are dangerous. I don't agree that Google will favor you (from experience). however, there is nothing better than an organic hit. Look at your stats and you will see, especially if you're using analytics.

$20 by keyword? I am wondering how much google pays to the editor who receives one click in your company ad. maybe $0.20 cents :)

    Why do you say theory?
    It's a fact.
Try changing the whois on a serious domain name and watch it drop......
The algo seems to actually check for changes of ownership

I bet there are some real interesting stories about folks starting with adwords without really knowing what they were doing and getting huge bills from google.

I thought that too about Adwords. I started noticing that every time I created a new site it would do well for about 30 days and then get sandboxed for 30 days or so. To combat this I now make a bunch of sites in advance for that targetted keyword I want and release a new one every 30 days. That way. as soon as my newest site gets sandboxed, I have another already indexed and ready to pick up where the last one left off.

The extra advantage to this is, as the previous sites come out of the sandbox, they group together to create a near monopoly for your keyword phrase. For one of my phrases, I have 7 separate sites all over the first 3 pages of the SERP. It's worth the extra effort.

I agree completely and if I was in there spot I would probably do the same, it makes sense to penalise new businesses especially now that adsense and the online industry is generating more and more money, they just want a big of the action and best way to do this would be to penalise new sites so people head for adsense, especially larger sites instead of paying SEO people they need to invest in adsense if they want a return in a short period of time. I think though with time google may take this to far though as though they control results, webmasters control what goes online and sooner or later something new may enter the market that it makes more sense to support. Though so far these days if any sites become real players with traffic and users the big guys just buy them out. Again I guess I would do the same, control the market.
