Gmail account full of SPAM !!!

I've had a gmail account for a few years now and I've never received any spam on it because I only use it to sign up for Google services. I check it once every few days to see if there are any Google related announcements, whatever... but today my gmail account has been getting beat to death by an avalanche of phishing spam emails. When I logged in the first time, there were over 260 messages in the spam folder and almost 20 that the spam filter didn't catch in my inbox.

I've never used the gmail address anywhere except Google

Most of the spam is those Nigerian 419 type scam emails. Really stupid stuff. I just logged in now before posting this and there are 45 more spam emails in my spam folder !!

I get a lot of spam in my spam foler, but never, ever, ever have I gotten a single SPAM email in my inbox... wow pretty unusual

 

mines full of spam too!
I never gave it out only to people i knew and used it as a personal email.

and then suddenly i got a flood of spam in the junk folder.

right now i have 92 spam messages since about 3 days ago!

 

I just checked mine for the first time in years and I have 50,000 mails, All of which are crap LOL.

 

My gmail spam folder has 10296 messages and they are auto deleted every 30 days. I get a few every minute

Gmail has the best spam filter I have ever seen.

 

Same here. Just checked, over 10k in the junk filter. What's nice is it catches 99.9% of all junk emails which is far better than most. I just wonder how it got that bad in the first place.

is this real spam or just a bunch of emails that you are not interested in?

I find it pretty hard to belive the gmail spam filter can let so much spam through. It usually works exceptionally well.

could you provide, say, an example of one of these emails?

 

click "Report Spam" on the ones that get into your inbox that are spam, it helps google detect them I believe.

I think someone in the world has a "gmail account guesser" and they saw that your account didnt bounce, so they added it their list -- it happens, as long as it doesn't bother you too much it isn't really a problem.

That's not very much spam though. I get about 5 spam emails per minute haha, rarely (thank god) do they get into my inbox. <3 Google

Well for me G Mail is the best, i always get less amount of Spam mails in G Mail in compare to Yahoo and Hotmail.

 

There are still SPAMs that gets away from Google's filters, so you can say its 99% rather than 100%

 

That's what I'm wondering.

So I guess I'm not the only one. Is there a way to check the email headers in gmail??? I run 70+ websites, so I use Thunderbird to manage my email. My gmail account is just for Google so I really have never spent any time trying to learn if the message headers could be displayed.

 

I get maybe 1 spam a day in my inbox... tons and tons in my spam folder *shrug* I love gmail, I give my address to anyone/anything because it does such a great job of keeping crap out of my inbox.

 

I dont really use gmail and I have 10k spam..

 

is there no way to show an emails as spam in google.

 

I havnt got one spam email in my current gmail account since I got it 8 months ago. Its the only one of them I use and I use it for everything I do.

Im not surprised. Spam is so rampant- even the feedburner forums have been spammed to death and now they're stopping the forum service
