.....understand how some websites launch and then their traffic just contunes to shoot up and all they have is normal html website with no special content and when you look at their 5 year trend their traffic just keeps going up. Why am I not seeing this happening with my 3 month old website? 12 pages index, last week developed 65 more pages and no waiting for those to be indexed - but no traffic like those other sites yet???? BTW, they do not invest in any buying traffic or PPC just pure SE traffic, just keeps going up, up UP!
You are probably caught in the google sandbox. It will take in my experience 8-10 months to start ranking for any competitive terms, your competitor was lucky enough to start their website before this was put in place and with the steady adding of content and building links then their traffic will continue to rise. You should try concentrating on getting a few trusted and authority domains to link to you which will speed your way out of the sandbox
this is not true in all the cases, if you want to get traffic your site must be relevant and having good information or products. each person getting traffic is not his luck but it is the result of his hard work. there are many factors affecting, like your site products, site theme, ranking u got in search engines and many more. If you want to get traffic than you must do some optimization or ppc for your niche.
FYI SEO is not the only way how you could get a good traffics. When you said "traffics just continue to shoot up" I guess you might be referring to Alexa ranking because you wouldn't know their traffic trends just by looking at its top post in SERP right. Say for instance a media website. They can anytime boost their traffic via promotion on their media channel ie. TV, Radio. They do not need to SEOed their page. People knows about them via different medium. Another example, few weeks back I encountered a simple 5-6 pages website, boost up overnight just by pushing a funny flash video to Digg. This are just few, in fact in reality there are tons of other sites which are getting good traffics not via SEO method. Anyway one thing for sure if you optimized your page, you will get a consistence traffic flows on a longer run. As compare to those example above where traffics are mainly seasonal. Cheers, Azlan
...was looking at their Alexa graph. Seriously, there are people ranking in top 10 for very competitive words less than 1 year old site and crap seo score. That mean there is something that I am missing from the equtaion. Looking at some guys site, 9 pages, about 8 links linking bck to his site and in top ten for a sougth after keyword?????????????? WTF! Position nuber 6 to be exact and he is only an affiliate site, the other 9 are proper business sites. What is the missing key???
No SEO done, no site map, no nothing, 5 backlins and this guy is getting heaps of traffic. Nothing too fancy, probably not even gone through a software life cycle, just plain html, 5 year old since day one the traffic just flew up. Sex related site.
badmaash you should give the link of sites which you are talking about. SE are not everything there are many other wealthiest sources around which do send heaps of traffic......They might use word of mouth or email marketing to their target niche..or any other affiliations..And no need to mention sex sells. Its just about how they pack and sell their noodles.
