Adsense CTR On Blogs

For those of you that have adsense on blogs and have tried numerous ad types what provided the best CTR? If you don't mind sharing what position are the ads? Image or Text?

 

Biggest CTR for me is a large square on top of each post. I've tried a lot but that's the best performing.

 

Was that text or image? Is it on top of the first post too? Does that make the page look funny? Rep added by the way.

 

Same here! I first post a snippet of my article then re-direct my visitors to
the main page where they get to read the whole post.

They get to see the '360x280' unit first, which is of course, targeted to the
very article they're about to read..

 

Large square above the fold or between content within posts etc. Also 468x60 text ad with no borders in between paragraphs has done well for me too.

 

text banner ads at top of the blog post has done better than ads placed in other place for me

 

It's pretty much the same for blogs as for other websites, large blocks above the fold with link color #0000FF gets the highest CTR for me.

- 160x60 wide sky scrapper placed in side bar

- Vertical link units within text or in sidebar.

These have produced best results for me so far

 

25% CTR with a square next to 125 x125 images. You need to trick your users its a download link. I'm not sure you can do this any more though.

 

Image skyscrapers on the sidebar was the best converting. But I tend not to use blocks in the content: I don't like when other people do that to me so I don't do it to my users. Still I understand why they might be the best converters.

 

Larger rectangle in post worked best for me..

 

17% CTR with a large rectangle inside the post (text only).

 

Weird but true is mine. I use the 180x150 ad on my site and that has the highest CTR! Of course the text ad though I personally feel that 125x125 ads are the most successful.

 

That's what I am using right now. CTR no wheres near 17% though.

 

You can have two identical blogs in terms of layout but on different subjects and you will find the CTR will be very different. The ads displayed and the quality of traffic play a huge role. Every website is unique...

 

i use sidebar for adsense as well as ad on the top of individual posts. was using text ad unit above each post and was getting around 7-8% CTR from individual post text ads, then i switched to link unit to make my site look more clean but the link unit now is not returning as much clicks as the text ad did. so i'm thinking about switching back to text unit above each individual post

 

Large rectangle performs best for me. Gives me a CTR of around 5%
