The sovereign funds are flushed with cash especially China, USA in contrast had a nightmare of a deficit. They are buying up some real old and respectable companies and I would expect the trend to continue as the USD weakens, making it much more affordable and worthwhile to do their acquisitions.

Some of the companies being bought up, or bought in to have negative capital.

Rather than buy the company and achieve a positive capital position, I imagine some companies will be raided for their research, brand, staff and book of business.

Bear's top brokers are getting some very nice deals out of this from JPMorgan. Some are getting 100% or 50% upfront bonuses, plus more. These guys can rake in some serious dough by basically doing nothing. I've heard other firms are paying something like 150-200% upfront bonuses to get the top brokers from Bear as well.

P.S. I kicked SIRI over a large cliff.

Well the brokers had a good time but overall the normal investors are having an extremely raw deal even though JPMorgan substantially increase the buy out price.

A lot of the "rawness" is being felt by Bear's employees, but atleast they are receiving $10 because it should have been $0. Enron employees would've killed for that.

It used to be $70 I think, a really big fall from grace.

Oracle decided to shit the shower, hopefully no one got into this.

P.S. I have no pity for egregious positions.

There is still noting wrong with oracle, I would buy them tommorow as there is upside for them.
Sirius got screwed over the news from Clear Channel, it basically F'd up the whole radio sector. Don't get freaked out on this short term news ;)

I don't get "freaked out". Oracle has a lot of clients who are of the financial type, and are going to have to cut costs. Oracle will have no "real" upside anytime soon with a bear market. It is a dead end for capital that could be put to better use elsewhere. The bad revenue from Oracle coupled with whatever funk GOOG is experiencing in after hours trading is going to hurt the tech sector tomorrow, and possibly hold it down big for the rest of the week.

Plus: I have received confirmation that the FED is shipping my $29 Billion check in the mail tomorrow. They gave me a great deal: 2.5% over 10 years. I am going to set aside $1,212.34 and a couple bottle caps to buy the entire city of Cleveland. The rest I am investing in my drug smuggling ring.

I shorted the entire "tech" sector today via REW just to "spite" you bottom fishers going after Oracle. LEH is still minting fresh gold bars for me.

Don't buy that 0.6% growth number, or any positive number in Q1 2008. The FED has been pumping so much liquidity into the system, that is not immediately realized in the CPI used to determine Real GDP.

IMO, Real GDP is a lagging indicator.

The Fed will be lending $75 billion for 28 days due to the completion of its first Term Securities Lending Facility auction. The bid-to-cover ratio came in at 1.15--which is the amount of bids divided by what was lent out. The stop-out rate--the lowest rate the Fed accepted--was 0.33%. -Briefing.com

When Obama, Clinton or McCain talk about the economy, or policy, I basically tune out. These people are dreamers. They will do what every other government since Hoover has done.

Print the money they need to buy the votes and approval they need.

LEH has been upgraded by the idiots at C. They have been upgraded from dull POS to a shiny turd.

Oh, and some rumors are that C is supposed to break up.
